Summary: Chronic venous disease negatively affects patients' quality of life, and there is a discrepancy between physicians and patients in understanding its impact. Physicians tend to focus more on physical symptoms while patients are less satisfied with their quality of life. Therefore, physicians should consider the overall aspects of patients' lives, including sleep and quality of life. Additionally, certain medications can improve the quality of life for patients with chronic venous disease.

Summary: The study found that chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is highly prevalent in the population and closely associated with cardiovascular risk factors and disease. Patients with CVI face an increased risk of death, independent of factors such as age, gender, and other cardiovascular risk factors.

Summary: The study assessed the protective effect of calcium dobesilate against contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with diabetes and CKD, showing no preventive effect. Although there was a slight reduction in SCr levels, no significant differences were observed in CysC and NGAL levels between the experimental and control groups.

Summary: Chronic venous disease (CVD), a common condition in dermatology outpatient department, can progress to chronic leg ulcer if left untreated. It affects patients' quality of life and work productivity. The clinical manifestations range from asymptomatic varicose veins to ulceration and scarring. Increased venous hypertension and chronic inflammation play key roles in the development of CVD.

Summary: This study aimed to validate the correlation between Th17 response and the development of chronic venous disease and chronic venous limb ulcers (CVLUs), and identify Th17 markers as intrinsic risk factors and diagnostic markers for disease development. The results demonstrated that the main expression markers of the CD4 + Th17+ switch were strongly activated in chronic venous insufficiency and advanced ulceration. Th17 markers behaved as empirical risk factors for chronic venous disease development. These findings provide a new hypothesis for the pathogenesis of chronic venous disease and suggest the development of new diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic approaches.

Summary: The study found no significant differences between center-based pulmonary rehabilitation and telerehabilitation for both primary and secondary outcomes at the end of rehabilitation and at the 12-month follow-up. Although equivalence of telerehabilitation for CRQ-D was not confirmed, it showed equivalence in 6-minute walk distance at the end of rehabilitation and possibly had superiority at 12 months.

Summary: The study demonstrates that thermal aquatic immersion has a positive impact on the clinical outcomes of patients with chronic venous disease, helping to reduce lower limb volume and improve disease management. Additionally, the research results also show significant improvements in ankle range of motion and quality of life for patients undergoing thermal water immersion.

Summary: In this study, the effectiveness of calcium dobesilate (CaD) in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) patients was evaluated. The results showed that CaD treatment significantly reduced the levels of serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen, while also decreasing the levels of serum cystatin C, urinary molecules reflecting kidney function, and inflammatory factors. Additionally, CaD improved glomerular filtration rate and endothelial function. Network pharmacology analysis indicated that CaD may exert its effects on DKD through the MAPK and chemokine signaling pathways, with AKT1, CASP3, IGF1, MAPK8, and CCL5 identified as potential key targets.

Summary: This study provides an overview of the effectiveness of nonpharmacological interventions in preventing adverse events in the intensive care unit. The findings suggest that some interventions, such as subglottic secretion drainage and semirecumbent position, are effective in preventing specific adverse events. However, the low methodological quality of the included reviews should be taken into consideration when interpreting the results. Rating: 7.5/10.

Summary: This study evaluated a strategy to shorten the time from admission to surgery in patients with proximal femur fractures on chronic antiplatelet therapy and reported a 12-month follow-up on complications and quality of life. Patients were randomized to either early platelet function-guided surgery or delayed surgery. Surgical wound complications occurred in 5.7% of patients after hospital discharge, and 55.9% had medical complications, with 42.7% experiencing serious adverse events. Quality of life improved significantly after surgery, with the best scores at the six-month follow-up. There were no differences in outcomes between early and delayed surgery groups.

Summary: Hepatobiliary cancers are usually treated with systemic oncological treatments, but the trade-off between these treatments and supportive care is not clear and other outcomes beyond survival should be considered. This study aimed to assess the effects of systemic oncological treatments versus supportive care for advanced hepatobiliary cancers. The results showed that these treatments tend to improve survival but with greater toxicity, and other patient-important outcomes were not reported.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors associated with delayed surgery in patients with proximal femoral fracture and evaluate their health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after surgery, including mortality within 6 months. It was a single-center, observational, prospective cohort study that included 163 patients. The main factor associated with delayed surgery was administrative authorization. The HRQoL of patients improved 6 months after surgery.

Summary: This systematic review analyzed the performance of sentinel lymph-node biopsy (SLNB) in women with node-positive breast cancer at diagnosis and node-negative tumor after neoadjuvant therapy compared to axillary lymph-node dissection. The results showed that SLNB has a low false-negative rate, high lymph-node identification rate, good negative predictive value, and high accuracy. The performance of SLNB can be improved with double mapping and marking the affected node.

Summary: Through a systematic review, it was found that dual anti-HER2 blockade had a higher probability of achieving pathological complete response compared to monotherapy. Furthermore, dual treatment may lead to improved survival outcomes and tumor clinical response. For neoadjuvant treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, the use of dual blockade with trastuzumab and pertuzumab is recommended.
