Summary: The study aimed to investigate the association between consumption of ultra-processed food (UPF) and the incidence of metabolic syndrome (MetS). The results showed that for every increase of 150g/day in UPF consumption, there was a 7% higher risk of incident MetS. Compared to the first quartile, those in the fourth quartile had a 33% increased risk. These findings have important implications for diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention and management.

Summary: This study aimed to find potential surrogate outcomes for osteoarthritis (OA) incidence by evaluating the association of short-term changes in clinical and imaging biomarkers with long-term clinical knee OA incidence. The results showed that worsening of tibiofemoral (TF) cartilage defects and TF osteophytes on MRI, as well as an increase in pain severity, were significantly associated with greater clinical knee OA incidence after 6.5 years.

Summary: To prevent childhood obesity, promoting breastfeeding, reducing protein content in formulated milks, and focusing on the diet of children in the first 12-24 months are crucial. Involving families and schools in promoting physical activity and healthy eating, as well as taking a multidimensional approach to interventions, are also important for increasing effectiveness in preventing childhood obesity.
