Summary: This study presents a mass-rearing protocol for Pentastiridius leporinus and provides important life history data. The protocol successfully produced five generations and over 20,000 individuals of P. leporinus between June 2020 and March 2022. It was found that P. leporinus can be reared exclusively on sugar beet without the need for an alternative host like wheat. The study also identified the head capsule width as a reliable trait for distinguishing the five nymphal instars. The results showed that the majority of reared planthoppers carried the SBR proteobacterium, highlighting the importance of this research for developing integrated pest management tools for SBR.

Summary: The study aims to develop molecular tools for discriminating three host plant associations of Hyalesthes obsoletus, a vector of 'Candidatus Phytoplasma solani'. Multiplex PCR was designed to differentiate the host plant associations based on the size of amplified fragments. The method provides valuable information on disease epidemiology and transmission routes when combined with 'Ca. P. solani' genotyping, offering insights into the phylogenetic lineage and natural host preferences of H. obsoletus.

Summary: Induced host plant resistance using salicylic acid can enhance plants' defense against sap-sucking insects, but interactions with drought-stressed pistachio seedlings and common pistachio psylla are complex. The study found that salicylic acid treatment can increase plant resistance to psyllids by activating defensive enzymes and other metabolites.

Summary: Facultative endosymbionts can influence the growth, physiology, and behavior of their arthropod hosts. In the invasive whitefly Bemisia tabaci Mediterranean, the facultative endosymbiont Candidatus Cardinium hertigii alters stylet probing behavior, resulting in differences in sustained ingestion of plant phloem. These findings offer insights into the fitness costs of Cardinium-infected B. tabaci.

Summary: Leaf symptoms of chlorosis and blotchy mottling associated with agents of Huanglongbing were found in a citrus orchard in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The affected trees tested negative for Ca. Liberibacter americanus and Ca. Liberibacter asiaticus, with further analysis revealing the presence of a 16SrVII phytoplasma in symptomatic plants.

Summary: Describes a new genus and species of the planthopper family Katlasidae, named Dumpyawnus hpungwanus gen. et sp. nov., found in mid-Cretaceous Kachin (Burmese) amber. The new taxon can be attributed to the Katlasidae family based on its wing structure and hind wing venation, but it differs from the type genus Katlasus Luo, Jiang et Szwedo, 2020 in terms of wing venation. The morphological features and taxonomic placement of the new species are briefly discussed.

Summary: The expression profiles of 11 genes of Flavescence doree phytoplasma were analyzed in natural and experimental hosts. The study revealed that the expression patterns of these genes differed between plants and insects, indicating different behaviors of Flavescence doree phytoplasma in the two hosts.
