Summary: About 5% of ovarian tumors develop hormonal activity, with only 1% causing clinical hyperandrogenism. Sertoli-Leydig Cell Tumors are the most common androgen-secreting tumors, typically occurring in women under 30 years old. Diagnosing hyperandrogenism can be challenging and requires assessing symptom severity, onset time, and using laboratory tests and imaging studies for differential diagnosis. Treatment mainly involves surgery, with pharmacotherapy as an option in some cases.

Summary: Severe insulin resistance (IR) is associated with high levels of androgens and ovarian changes similar to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Treatment with GnRH analogues can improve hyperandrogenic symptoms and reduce testosterone levels in different subtypes of SIR. Insulin signaling disorders and adipose development defects have distinct relationships with free testosterone levels, mediated by sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG).

Summary: The study found Leydig cell hyperplasia in ovarian mature cystic teratoma led to excessive production of testosterone, with extensive areas of lipomatous differentiation present. This suggests a possible link between the proliferation of adipose tissue and hyperandrogenism, indicating a complex metabolic interaction between Leydig cells and adipocytes.

Summary: This article reports a case of ovarian tumor consisting of several types of tissue, including teratoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumor, adenocarcinoma, sarcomas, and clear cell carcinoma. These findings indicate the coexistence of a clear cell carcinoma derived from somatic cells and a teratoma that transformed into various types of somatic cell tumors in the patient's ovary.

Summary: This study aimed to identify patient-specific risk factors for severe anemia in patients with advanced ovarian or breast cancer receiving olaparib monotherapy. The study found that low baseline red blood cell count, low baseline hematocrit level, and low baseline hemoglobin level might be the patient-associated risk factors for severe anemia induced by olaparib monotherapy.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of abnormally elevated serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) on pregnancy outcomes in patients with moderate and severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). The results showed that higher ALT levels increased the risk of obstetric and neonatal complications.

Summary: In this retrospective observational study, we investigated the prognostic factors and treatment efficacy of intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment with a vascular filter in patients with moderate or severe meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). The results showed that IPL treatment using a vascular filter led to significant improvements in clinical outcomes and the expression levels of tear MMP-9. Age and upper lid meibum consistency were found to be important prognostic factors. IPL with a vascular filter is a safe and effective treatment for moderate and severe MGD.

Summary: Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition with similarities to malignant diseases, involving hormonal imbalances and abnormal tissue morphology. This study compared estrogen and progesterone receptor status in different types of endometriosis, as well as their relationship with p53 protein. Deep infiltrating and lymph node endometriosis show similar immunophenotypes, and atypical ovarian endometriosis exhibits distinctive characteristics related to receptor expression and p53 levels.

Summary: This study compared the survival outcomes in patients with stage I ovarian ITs who underwent surveillance or adjuvant chemotherapy, and found no significant difference in survival rates between the two groups. The results suggest that surveillance may be a safe and preferable option for early-stage IT patients.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the adverse events (AEs) and explore dose adjustment strategies of the PARP inhibitor olaparib in Chinese ovarian cancer patients. Most AEs were mild, but rare AEs were observed. In OC patients, AE management with dose reductions followed by re-escalations was feasible, including for anemia.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate the emotional wellbeing, acceptability, safety, and cost effectiveness of nurse-led telehealth follow-up for women with ovarian cancer. It is hypothesized that this telehealth follow-up model will improve emotional wellbeing, increase patient satisfaction, identify patients with psychological distress, and be cost-effective. The results are expected to be published in 2025, 24 months after the last participant is enrolled.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the role of flexible bronchoscopy with bronchial washing in COVID-19 pneumonia. The results showed that no SARS-CoV2 RNA was detected in the bronchial washing of patients with an atypical or indeterminate chest CT scan pattern for COVID-19 pneumonia. Therefore, flexible bronchoscopy has a negligible role in the diagnosis of COVID-19 pneumonia with indeterminate or atypical patterns.

Summary: Late night salivary cortisol (LNSF) is more sensitive than late night salivary cortisone (LNSE) and urinary free cortisol (UFC) in diagnosing Cushing's syndrome (CS). Combining LNSF and LNSE results improves sensitivity, and half of the patients showed evidence of cyclical or variable hormonogenesis. It is important to conduct multiple screening tests, particularly with high clinical suspicion.

Summary: This study demonstrates that mitotane-induced cytotoxicity in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) may be mediated through enhanced breakdown of lipid droplets and activation of lipolysis. Understanding the role of cholesterol and lipids in ACC could provide potential novel therapeutic options, particularly in mitotane-resistant disease.

Summary: Primary aldosteronism is a common cause of secondary hypertension with increased morbidity and mortality. The current limitations in patient care include delayed recognition, limited access to diagnostic procedures, and lack of a definitive therapy option for some patients. However, recent advances in machine learning algorithms, noninvasive diagnostics, and selective therapies have the potential to improve care for patients with primary aldosteronism.

Summary: This study characterized the dielectric properties of ovine adrenal glands and normal and diseased human adrenal glands ex vivo, providing crucial information for the development of microwave ablation therapy. The study compared the data from human and animal models, highlighting the potential of ovine models as a feasible option for testing the safety and performance of MWA.
