Summary: The prognostic importance of cardiac procedural myocardial injury and myocardial infarction (MI) in chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is still debated. Post-PCI cTn elevation of >= 5 x 99th percentile URL used to define Type 4a MI is associated with increased 1-year mortality in CCS patients with normal baseline cTn levels.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between PCSK9 and endothelial dysfunction in patients with acute myocardial infarction. The results showed a positive correlation between PCSK9 and apoptosis rate, and an increase in PCSK9 levels within 5 days after myocardial infarction, while apoptosis rate remained unchanged. Reduction of PCSK9 was associated with a decrease in apoptosis rate.

Summary: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a major cause of death and disability worldwide. Emotional distress, such as anxiety and depression, is common among MI patients. This study analyzed testimonials from MI patients undergoing internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) and identified six themes related to emotional reactions and strategies for managing emotional distress. The findings suggest that applying a behavioral model to managing emotional distress following MI could be effective.

Summary: The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the survival chain of cardiac arrest patients was significant. This study analyzed the data of cardiac arrest admissions in the United States in 2020 and found that patients with concomitant COVID-19 had a higher risk of complications such as acute kidney injury, prolonged mechanical ventilation, and sepsis. However, they had lower rates of cardiogenic shock, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation, as well as a lower utilization of cardiac procedures. In-hospital mortality was also higher in patients with COVID-19, and COVID-19 diagnosis was an independent predictor of mortality.

Summary: Plasticizers from medical devices used in cardiac surgery can be released into the patient's blood and tissues, and exposure to di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) may enhance inflammation. In a model of cardiac damage, acute phthalate exposure resulted in increased immune cell infiltration, inflammasome expression, and reduced cardiac function.

Summary: In this meta-analysis of 23 studies, sacubitril-valsartan was found to improve left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, and left ventricular end-diastolic volume in patients with acute STEMI within 6 months after surgery. These results suggest that sacubitril-valsartan can reduce reperfusion injury and improve cardiac function.

Summary: Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, it was found that there is a relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the risk of subsequent myocardial infarction (MI), with depression possibly being a mediating factor. However, due to high heterogeneity between studies and possible publication bias, further research is needed to validate these results.

Summary: Baicalin exhibits positive effects on myocardial ischemia diseases, achieved by regulating key pathological indicators and various signaling pathways. In animal models of myocardial ischemia, reperfusion injury, and myocardial infarction, baicalin can reduce myocardial infarction size, improve cardiac pathological condition, and enhance heart function indicators.

Summary: This study found a relationship between work ability and return to work among women with long-term neck/shoulder and/or back pain. The Work Ability Index (WAI) was able to discriminate between those who returned to work and those who did not, while the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (LiSat-11) could not.

Summary: The study found that among women on long-term sick leave due to common mental disorders, having a positive attitude towards return to work, facing stronger social pressure, having higher perceived control over return to work, and better psychological well-being were all associated with stronger intentions to return to work. Women who reported that their employer had taken actions to facilitate their return to work also showed stronger intentions.

Summary: This study translated and adapted the original English eHEALS version into Arabic and evaluated its psychometric properties among Arabic-speaking people in Sweden. The Arabic version of eHEALS was found to be a valid and reliable tool for measuring eHealth literacy in this population, with high internal consistency and acceptable test-retest reliability. The study suggested that eHealth literacy threshold values should be dichotomized instead of trichotomized for better measurement.

It found that return-to-work intention significantly predicted return to work among women on full-time sick leave, while psychological well-being was influenced by social pressure, attitude towards returning to work, and perceived health among women on part-time sick leave.

Summary: A nationwide survey in Sweden provided information on post-anaesthesia care units (PACUs). The most common patients cared for in PACUs were those who had undergone laparoscopic or minor orthopaedic surgery. The majority of PACUs offered care for emergency surgery patients and day surgery patients. Pain relief services were available in 31% of PACUs through dedicated pain service teams. Anesthesiologists in charge most commonly worked in the operating room during the daytime and were on call in the intensive care unit. Most registered nurses in PACUs had advanced level specialist education, and the ratio of registered nurses to patients was typically 1:4. PACUs in Sweden also had assistant nurses, with a common ratio of 1:1. Physiotherapists were available during the daytime in 44% of PACUs. Although almost all PACUs had predetermined discharge criteria, the majority did not have follow-up by an anesthesiologist for high-risk patients after discharge.
