Summary: This study investigated the frequency of general practice consultations for skin cancer-related conditions in Australia. The results showed different patterns of consultations based on patient and general practitioner characteristics as well as time periods. The most common conditions managed were solar keratosis and keratinocyte cancer. Higher consultation rates were observed for patients aged 65-89 years, males, those living in Queensland or in regional or remote areas, with lower socioeconomic status, English-speaking background, Veteran card holders and non-healthcare card holders; as well as for GPs aged 35-44 years or males.

Summary: This study evaluated lung cancer screening practices among Australian general practitioners and found that despite the majority being aware that screening is not recommended by Australian professional societies, a significant proportion still requested chest X-ray or LDCT screening. Factors associated with screening practices included recent education about screening from radiology practices. There is a need for clearer guidance on screening recommendations from national and professional bodies in Australia.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and natural course of warts in Chinese military recruits. The results showed that the prevalence rate of warts among Chinese military recruits was 2.49%. Most cases were common and plantar warts, usually less than 1 cm in diameter with mild discomfort. Smoking and sharing personal items with others were risk factors, while coming from southern China was a protective factor. Over 2/3 of patients recovered within 1 year, and the type, number, and size of warts and treatment choice did not predict resolution.

Summary: Health literacy is an important factor in cancer care communication, and this study aimed to measure the health literacy of breast cancer patients and examine its relationship with patient-provider communication. The study found that most participants had high health literacy levels and there was no significant correlation between patient-provider communication and health literacy. The findings suggest that both the CHLT-6 and NVS may be useful tools for assessing the health literacy of cancer patients.

Summary: The study surveyed the provision of recovery, rehabilitation and follow-up services for adult critical care patients in the UK, with findings showing that inpatient and outpatient services were mainly delivered by nurses and co-delivered by two or more healthcare professionals. Lack of funding was identified as a primary barrier to service provision, with post-hospital discharge physical rehabilitation programs being relatively few but peer support services being more available. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in changes in service provision, with future plans focusing on expanding current outpatient services.

Summary: We evaluated the impact of the influenza season on the outcome of new lung nodules in a lung cancer screening trial population. There was no statistically significant association between the influenza season and the resolution or persistence of new lung nodules. Hence, the management strategy for new nodules should not be influenced by the season in which they are detected.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the true participation rate of cervical cancer screening (CCS) by extending the time window for defining participation and to analyze the impact of sociodemographic determinants on participation delays. The findings showed that a 36-month window better reflected the actual participation rate and that delayed participation was associated with younger age, higher education, the high-risk human papillomavirus test-based program, and pregnancy. This suggests the importance of considering these factors when designing and promoting CCS programs.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the performance of Lung-RADS (versions 1.0 and 1.1) in detecting lung cancer in different populations. The results showed that studies in high-risk populations had higher sensitivity and lower specificity than studies in general populations. Non-Asian studies tended to have better diagnostic performance than Asian studies. Limited evidence was available for the performance of Lung-RADS version 1.1 and its applicability to Asian populations.

Summary: In this study, genetic alterations in resectable pleural mesothelioma tissues and blood samples were analyzed, and it was found that high tissue tumor mutational burden, tissue median minor allele frequency, blood tumor mutational burden, and specific mutations were correlated with outcomes in patients with resected PM. Summary: The study reveals that nullpeptides can serve as biomarkers for cancer detection and treatment, particularly in highly recurrent cancer patients. These nullpeptides primarily occur in highly expressed genes, particularly in specific loci of oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Recurrent nullpeptides are more likely to be found in neoantigens, which play a significant role in immunotherapy.
