Summary: This study found that overweight NPC patients at diagnosis had a 25% lower all-cause mortality and NPC-specific mortality compared to normal-weight patients. Lean body shapes 1 and 2 at diagnosis were associated with a 68% and 23% higher all-cause mortality, respectively, compared to normal body shape 3. Associations with BMI and body shape 10 years before diagnosis were similar but attenuated, while body size and shape at age 20 were not associated with mortality.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the predictive significance of the H-Index for radiation-induced trismus (RIT) and osteoradionecrosis of the jaw (ORNJ) in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy (C-CRT). The results showed that a pre-C-CRT H-Index > 5.5 was associated with significantly increased rates of RIT and ORNJ.

Summary: By developing RGD-targeted platinum-based nanoparticles, targeted chemoradiotherapy for NPC can be achieved with improved delivery efficiency of cisplatin. RPNs act as radiotherapy sensitizer and chemotherapy agents, leading to remarkable therapeutic outcome in synergistic chemoradiotherapy for NPC.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of complications and types of symptom clusters induced by chemoradiotherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) who were discharged from hospital. Exploratory factor analysis identified six symptom clusters, including painful eating, social difficulties, psychological disorders, symptomatic shame, teeth/throat injuries, and sensory abnormalities. The authors recommended evaluating patients' symptoms before discharge and providing targeted health education services to reduce complications and improve the quality of life at home.

Summary: This comprehensive review of human adipose tissue fails to mention the role of the endocannabinoid system in fat metabolism. The endogenous cannabinoids and their receptors, found in both white and brown fat, have been recognized as key players in adipose tissue metabolism. Rimonabant, an inverse agonist of cannabinoid receptor type 1, has shown promising effects as a therapeutic target for obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance, although its clinical use was discontinued due to neuropsychiatric side effects.

Summary: This study found that lower BMI and PNI levels are associated with worse survival outcomes in patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma undergoing chemoradiotherapy. BMI and PNI can be used to stratify risk factors and guide treatment for these patients.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of short-term changes in general and central fatness on the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The results showed that both incident and persistent general and central fatness were associated with an increased risk of HCC. This emphasizes the importance of preventing and reversing body fatness to reduce the incidence of HCC.

Summary: This study demonstrates the value of arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion imaging in assessing the early efficacy of chemoradiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). By investigating tumor blood flow parameters and their correlation with tumor atrophy rate, it is possible to predict the sensitivity to chemoradiotherapy and the presence of residual tumors.

Summary: Translation: The Importance of Platinum-Based Therapies for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor characterized by the transformation of nasopharyngeal epithelial cells. Radiotherapy is the primary treatment modality, but it often fails to achieve desirable outcomes for locally advanced NPC (LA-NPC). Therefore, combining radiotherapy with chemotherapy, particularly concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) using platinum-based drugs, has become an effective strategy. The extensive use of platinum drugs in clinical settings highlights their therapeutic potential and emphasizes the importance of developing novel platinum-based complexes for anticancer therapy.

Summary: In this study, genetic alterations in resectable pleural mesothelioma tissues and blood samples were analyzed, and it was found that high tissue tumor mutational burden, tissue median minor allele frequency, blood tumor mutational burden, and specific mutations were correlated with outcomes in patients with resected PM. These findings suggest that molecular profiling could help identify longer survivors in patients with resected PM.

Summary: This study explores the impact of metastatic sites on treatment outcomes for chemotherapy-refractory colorectal cancer patients. It found that patients with liver or peritoneal metastases had poor treatment outcomes, while those with lung-only metastases showed significant response. The presence of concurrent lymph node or other extrahepatic metastatic disease diminished treatment response in patients with lung metastases. Future checkpoint inhibitor trials should stratify patients based on metastatic locations.

Summary: The study reveals that nullpeptides can serve as biomarkers for cancer detection and treatment, particularly in highly recurrent cancer patients. These nullpeptides primarily occur in highly expressed genes, particularly in specific loci of oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Recurrent nullpeptides are more likely to be found in neoantigens, which play a significant role in immunotherapy.
