Predicting potentially hazardous chemical reactions using an explainable neural network

Summary: Predicting potentially dangerous chemical reactions is a critical task for laboratory safety. Traditional experimental investigations for hazardous or explosive byproducts are time-consuming and costly, while machine learning prediction can accelerate the process and aid detailed experimental investigations. A newly proposed explainable artificial intelligence model can predict hazardous reaction products formation with a false negative rate of 0.09, compared to 0.47-0.66 of existing main product prediction models. It also offers explanations for key substructures important in decision-making for target hazardous product formation through an input attribution method.

Ynamides in Radical Reactions: A Route to Original Persubstituted 2-Aminofurans

Summary: Mn(OAc)(3)/Cu(OAc)(2)-mediated reaction is used for the one-pot synthesis of 2-aminofurans from yna-mides derived from oxazolidone or 3-methylindole carboxylate and cyclic α-dicarbonyl radicals. The reaction involves addition of α-dicarbonyl radical to ynamide, oxidation to ketene-iminium, and polar cyclization steps, yielding original per-substituted 2-aminofurans in good to excellent yields. This study presents the first radical route for the synthesis of furans from yna-mides.

Overgrowth control of potentially hazardous bacteria during storage of ozone treated wastewater through natural competition

Summary: Improving the quality of treated wastewater is crucial in water-stressed regions. This study explores the potential of using a diverse bacterial community to prevent the overgrowth of harmful bacteria in ozone treated wastewater during storage. The results show that the diluted samples with the added bacterial community had diverse bacterial composition and did not show an increase in antibiotic resistance genes.

Multi-objective transportation route optimization for hazardous materials based on GIS

Argon Attenuates Multiorgan Failure in Relation with HMGB1 Inhibition

Summary: The inhalation of argon and administration of the HMGB1 inhibitor glycyrrhizin both attenuated multiorgan failure after experimental aortic cross-clamping, leading to improved cardiac output, ameliorated metabolic acidosis, reduced norepinephrine requirement, decreased interleukin-6 and HMGB1 plasma concentration, as well as alleviated end-organ damages in the liver and kidney. Argon inhalation was able to reduce HMGB1 blood levels after aortic cross-clamping and provided similar benefits to direct HMGB1 inhibition.

The results highlight the importance of strengthening preventive measures in hospitals, particularly in geriatric settings.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of endoscopic metal stenting for anastomotic biliary stricture (ABS) in patients who underwent deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT). Among 465 patients, 41 developed ABS and endoscopic treatment was technically successful in 95.1% of cases. After a mean follow-up of 6.9 years, 22% of patients required surgical intervention.
