Summary: This study explores the relationship between adolescent mental well-being, religion, and family activities in a school-based sample from Northern Ireland. The findings suggest that non-religious adolescents may have lower mental well-being scores compared to their religious peers, regardless of religious denomination. This may be due to a lack of firm identity and a sense of marginalization. Additionally, poor family cohesion is associated with poorer mental well-being in adolescents.

Summary: The study found that the most important factors for adult psychiatry residents in choosing their specialty were personal interest, work-life balance, and future job location. While most residents considered training duration important, less than 30% felt that child psychiatry fellowship was too long. Despite recognizing ample job opportunities in child psychiatry, fewer than 30% of surveyed residents showed a high level of interest in the field.

Summary: This project used an iterative process of consensus building and pairwise comparison to prioritize key applicant attributes for admission. These attributes will now be incorporated into the admissions process, impacting not only recruitment but also curriculum development, faculty training, and overall mission and vision guidance for the Division. Similar processes could be applied by other training programs seeking to identify priority attributes for admissions.

Summary: This study analyzed the changes in child and adolescent psychiatric (CAP) emergency admissions over a four-year period (2018-2021), including the pandemic period. The results showed that during the first month of the COVID-19 pandemic, suicide attempts, manic symptoms, and total CAP emergency admissions decreased. However, during the subsequent pandemic period, there was an increase in total CAP emergency admissions, especially in cases presenting with psychiatric symptoms related to general medical conditions. This study highlights the importance of considering underlying medical conditions in patients presenting with psychiatric complaints in the emergency department.
