Summary: Poria cocos extract showed significant protective effects against H2O2-induced cell death, with a reduction in ROS accumulation. The extract suppressed the expression of metallomatrix proteinases, inflammatory markers, and skin aging markers while increasing TGF-beta 1 levels and antioxidant related proteins.

Summary: This study found that chlorogenic acid can increase collagen synthesis and secretion while reducing collagen degradation during the process of photoaging. Additionally, chlorogenic acid can inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species induced by UV radiation, alleviate DNA damage, and promote cell repair, ultimately reducing cell apoptosis.

Summary: This study aimed to establish an in vitro co-culture model to investigate the capabilities of ASCs to modulate fibroblasts and ECM. The results showed that in this model, ASCs increased the formation of collagen type I and III through paracrine mechanisms and the formation of collagen type VI through juxtacrine mechanisms.

Summary: The study showed that DK extracted from the brown seaweed Ecklonia cava has protective effects against UVB-induced skin damage. It inhibits collagenase activity, reduces intracellular reactive oxygen species level, and promotes collagen synthesis. Additionally, DK can reduce inflammation and metalloproteinase expression by regulating signaling pathways.

Summary: The study found that human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells (HUMSCs)-derived microvesicles (HUMSCs-MVs) can inhibit the formation of hypertrophic scars by suppressing fibroblast proliferation and invasion, inflammation and oxidative stress, Smad2/3 activation, and angiogenesis. This suggests that HUMSCs-MVs may be a potential drug for attenuating hypertrophic scar formation during wound healing.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of marine-derived saccharides, L-fucose and chondroitin sulphate disaccharide, on skin and hair health, as well as their impact on intrinsic and extrinsic aging. The results indicate that both ingredients supported and promoted the proliferation of dermal fibroblasts and dermal papilla cells, provided cells with a supply of sulphated disaccharide GAG building blocks, increased ECM molecule production (collagen and elastin) by HDFa, and supported the growth phase of the hair cycle (anagen).

Summary: UV-irradiation induces the secretion of dsRNA from damaged noncoding RNAs, which enhances the expression of MMP in keratinocytes, leading to dysregulation of extracellular matrix homeostasis. This study demonstrates that TG2 mediates dsRNA-induced MMP-1 expression through NF-kappa B activation.

Summary: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common chronic connective tissue disease in children, characterized by inflammation-induced destruction of articular cartilage. Understanding the metabolic changes in extracellular matrix (ECM) components in the course of JIA may lead to the introduction of new therapeutic strategies for children with JIA, beyond just diagnosing disease activity.

Summary: The study demonstrated that chitosan hydrogel-encapsulated extracellular vesicles (EVs) could effectively rejuvenate aging dermal fibroblasts by promoting cell proliferation, enhancing ECM protein synthesis, and inhibiting MMPs overexpression. Furthermore, subcutaneous injection of CS-EVs in a mouse model significantly delayed skin aging processes, showcasing the potential of this novel therapeutic approach for rejuvenating aging skin.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the conditioned medium of ADSCs (ADSC-CM) inhibited the growth and induced apoptosis of keloid dermis-derived fibroblasts (KFBs). The anti-fibrotic effect was mediated through the activation of the COX-2/PGE2 cascade, as demonstrated by increased caspase 3 expression and decreased Bcl-2 expression. Inhibition of COX-2 reversed the ADSC-CM-induced effects on KFBs, highlighting the importance of the COX-2 pathway in mediating the therapeutic effects.
