Summary: The study showed that the presence of ionic liquids significantly affects the formation and structure of Triton X-114 micelles, leading to a drastic increase in cloud points and a complete reversal in viscosity measurements. Additionally, the introduction of ILs delayed the process of micellization, indicating strong interactions between the two components.

Summary: The determination of heavy metals in drinking water is crucial for quality assessment and pipeline corrosion detection. This study developed a simple, cost-effective method based on cloud point extraction for preconcentration and determination of iron, lead, and cadmium, with a 20-fold reduction in detection limit. Results demonstrate high accuracy and reproducibility of this method for the analysis of iron, lead, and cadmium in water samples by FAAS.

Summary: In this study, cloud point extraction (CPE) was used to extract and determine Tl(III) in water samples using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The CPE method, combined with the use of non-ionic surfactants as extractants, successfully achieved preconcentration and sensitive detection of Tl(III). The developed method shows potential for practical application.

Summary: This study investigated the removal of nickel(II) and lead(II) ions from aqueous solutions using pumpkin peel biochar prepared with sulfuric acid. The experimental results showed that the pH of the solution, contact time, dosage, and initial concentration of the metal ions significantly affected their removal. The pumpkin peel biochar exhibited high adsorption capacities for nickel(II) and lead(II) ions, with maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 64.1 and 178.6 mg g(-1), respectively.

Summary: An alternative methodology based on the combination of microextraction with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) is reported for the determination of Pd2+ in environmental samples. The method involves the use of CTAB as a surfactant and precipitating agent to form a complex with Pd2+ in the presence of iodide. The results show that this solvent-free microextraction is simple and sensitive for the preconcentration and determination of micrograms per liter of Pd2+ in various environmental samples.

Summary: The mechanisms controlling the generation of PbH4 in the reaction of Pb(II) with NaBH4 were investigated, with and without the presence of K3Fe(CN)6. PbH4 was identified for the first time using gas chromatographic mass spectrometry. It was found that without the additive, Pb(II) is converted to solid species and no volatile lead species can be detected. In the presence of K3Fe(CN)6, PbH4 is formed by the direct transfer of hydride from borane to lead atoms.
