Summary: Inspired by avian species, scientists have developed synthetic strategies to produce noniridescent, saturated colors using nanoparticle assemblies. By understanding the assembled structure and using a computational analysis method, scientists can predict and engineer designer materials with tailored colors, making trial-and-error experiments unnecessary.

Summary: By utilizing a floating solid catalyst chemical vapor deposition system, the challenge of achieving high-density and high-purity semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube arrays has been overcome. This approach allows for the growth of carbon nanotubes with high density and high purity, showing great potential for future applications in carbon nanotube electronics.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical lamellar single-walled carbon nanotube aerogels (SWCNTAs) were successfully fabricated and applied as multifunctional interlayers to address the shuttle effect of polysulfides in high-sulfur-loaded Li-S batteries. The introduced SWCNTA interlayers can reduce internal resistance and suppress polysulfide shuttling by a layer-by-layer physical blocking mechanism. Moreover, due to the super wettability of SWCNTAs, electrolytes with a dosage of 10 μL mg-1 could effectively wet and infiltrate the interlayers, enabling the lean-electrolyte Li-S batteries to maintain a high specific capacity (559 mAh g-1) after 60 cycles. This work provides an example for the rational design of interlayer structures for high-sulfur loading batteries, paving the way for the future commercialization of Li-S batteries.

Summary: A highly-stable ultramicroporous material CPL-1-NH2 was reported for efficient separation of low concentration SO2 and CO2, with high separation selectivity. The narrow channel with lined amino groups in this material exhibits significantly higher affinity to SO2 than CO2, demonstrating good capture performance even in the presence of CO2 and trace moisture.

Summary: The Mpemba effect is observed in a molecular binary mixture in contact with a thermal reservoir, where initial temperature differences can lead to the emergence of this effect. The interaction between the gaseous particles of the mixture and the thermal reservoir is modeled through a viscous drag force and a stochastic Langevin-like term. The results are theoretically analyzed and validated through computer simulations, showing agreement between theory and simulations.

Summary: Trions are charged excitons formed in low-dimensional semiconductors upon optical or electrical excitation in the presence of charge carriers. Trion emission in semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) occurs in the near-infrared and at lower energies compared to exciton emission. The influence of different dielectric materials on exciton and trion emission in SWCNT-based top-gate field-effect transistors is investigated, showing a clear dependence on the charge trapping properties of the dielectrics. The ratio of trion to exciton emission and the exciton blue-shift are not suitable as quantitative metrics for doping levels.

Summary: In this study, the spectral distribution of light scattered by microscopic thermal fluctuations in binary mixture gases was investigated experimentally and theoretically. It was found that under given pressure conditions, light mass species act as spectators and do not contribute to the light scattering spectrum, but they influence the motion and relaxation of heavy SF6 molecules.

Summary: Free-standing single-walled carbon nanotube films with a three-dimensional porous structure are prepared and applied as current collectors for flexible supercapacitors, showing advantages over conventional metal foil collectors. These films exhibit high mass loading efficiency, outstanding mechanical robustness, and excellent anti-corrosion properties. The electrochemical performance of the SWCNFs as current collectors is superior in terms of specific capacitance, rate capability, and cycling performance.
