Summary: There is a growing interest in using miRNA analysis for forensic body fluid identification due to its potential as a streamlined method compared to other RNA-based techniques. A panel of eight miRNAs has been successfully used to classify various body fluids with high accuracy in RNA extracts. In this study, the same model was tested using DNA extracts from different individuals, achieving an 87% initial classification rate which increased to 92% with the addition of three more miRNAs. The method demonstrated reliable body fluid identification across diverse population samples but showed limitations in classifying compromised semen and saliva samples as well as mixed samples.

Summary: Identifying body fluids left at crime scenes by extracting miRNA markers from trace samples is crucial for reconstructing the scene and inferring criminal behavior. Developing complex methods combining multiple miRNA markers, such as the combination of miR-451a, miR-891a-5p, miR-144-5p, and miR-203a-3p with KDE, can achieve the most accurate and robust performance for body fluid identification.

Summary: This study investigated the stability of miRNAs and mRNAs in blood samples, finding that miRNAs are more stable than mRNAs in humid environments or at high temperatures. RNase A had the most serious impact on RNA stability, altering both mRNA profiles and miRNAs expression patterns. The results provide data and support demonstrating that miRNAs are more stable RNA molecules in body fluid identification compared to mRNAs.

Summary: The study proposes a co-analysis system based on the PowerPlex 16 kit that can simultaneously amplify 25 genetic markers, including 15 STRs and nine mRNA markers. The results demonstrate that this co-analysis system can correctly identify different types of body fluid stains and obtain complete STR and mRNA profiles from various samples and DNA/RNA ratios.

Summary: This study analyzed RNA and miRNA sequencing profiles of lymphoblastoid cell lines from children diagnosed with autistic disorder and controls, and identified numerous differentially expressed genes and miRNAs between the two groups. Functional enrichment analysis revealed critical pathways involved in ASD, and the integration analysis showed dysregulated miRNA-gene pairs. These findings suggest altered mRNA and miRNA expression profiles in ASD and provide insights into the regulatory mechanisms of key pathways.

Summary: This study identified significantly differentially expressed miRNAs in resistant chickens compared to susceptible chickens after H5N1 infection, with a focus on regulation of immune-related genes, particularly the MAPK pathway molecules. The results showed higher miRNA expression levels in resistant chickens than susceptible chickens, indicating a potential for using exosomal miRNA expression as biomarkers for disease resistance against HPAIV H5N1.

Summary: The study found that most miRNAs were secreted in the non-EV fraction, with over 96% of total miRNA found in non-EVs. Despite containing only a fraction of the secreted miRNAs, EVs were stable at 37 degrees Celsius in a serum-containing environment.

Summary: This study demonstrates the involvement of ncRNA in soybean's response to salinity stress through miRNA arm switching and miRNA:lncRNA interactions. The behaviors of ncRNAs revealed in this study will shed new light on molecular regulatory mechanisms of stress responses in plants, and hence provide potential new strategies for crop improvement.

Summary: Circular RNAs have emerged as novel regulators of gene expression through various mechanisms. Most studies focus on functional circRNAs regulating target gene expression by interacting with microRNAs. Although computational tools and molecular assays have been used to predict and validate the interaction of miRNAs with circRNAs, careful validation of functional interactions in vivo is necessary.

Summary: The identification of body fluids is crucial in crime investigation, and molecular biological methods have been widely studied for this purpose. In this study, a simultaneous mRNA/miRNA assay was developed and tested on degraded samples. The results showed that the miRNA markers had a higher detection rate compared to the mRNA markers, indicating the advantage of this combined assay.
