Summary: Delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is caused by unaccustomed exercise with eccentric contractions, high intensity, or long duration. This study investigates the role of spinal cord neuroinflammation in DOMS and suggests that glial cells, NF kappa B, cytokines/chemokines, and oxidative stress play important roles in DOMS-induced central sensitization.

Summary: Piezo2 channels play a critical role in proprioception. They can be transiently damaged during strenuous contractions, leading to impaired proprioception and reduced range of motion. This damage can also cause neuroinflammation and neuronal activation in the spinal cord, contributing to delayed onset muscle soreness.

Summary: This study found that increased local glucose concentration stimulates GDNF expression and inhibits MANF expression in microglia, leading to suppressed appetite. Furthermore, this regulation is associated with GLUT5.

Summary: Nerve growth factor (NGF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) are essential for neuronal development and survival, but can induce hyperalgesia in painful conditions. There is a synergistic interaction between NGF and GDNF, mainly in primary afferent neurons where some neurons coexpress NGF and GDNF receptors.

Summary: The role of neurotrophic factors BDNF and GDNF in maintaining brain resistance to hypoxia and promoting recovery of neural networks is being actively studied. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of overexpressing BDNF and GDNF using viral vectors in modeling hypoxia. The results showed increased survival rate of mice under hypoxic conditions, indicating that overexpression of neurotrophic factors may be a potential neuroprotection method.

Summary: This study investigates whether the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) levels differ in terms of gender in patients with bipolar disorder (BD). The results show that in the healthy control group, males have significantly higher GDNF levels compared to females, while in the BD group, males have significantly lower GDNF levels compared to males in the healthy control group.

Summary: GDNF treatment facilitates macrophage polarization and regulates inflammatory response to suppress DSS-induced colitis in mice. Activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway may contribute to this regulation.

Summary: The study showed that silk fibroin-based scaffolds containing GDNF can stimulate the epithelialization process, increase the proliferative activity of epithelial cells and keratocytes, accelerate the formation of the stromal nerve plexus, and exhibit anti-apoptotic activity.

Summary: In this study, low-frequency focused ultrasound combined with GDNF microbubbles was used to target and open the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in the ventral tegmental area (VTA). The results showed that this technique significantly increased central GDNF content, disrupted drug addiction-related conditioned place preference, reduced withdrawal symptoms of morphine addiction, and reversed changes in neurotransmitter levels induced by morphine.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the levels of neurotrophic factors and related indices in patients with focal epilepsy and comorbid depression. The results showed a significant decrease in GDNF levels in lacrimal fluid of patients, while GDNF levels in blood serum remained similar. Additionally, the study found a positive correlation between changes in GDNF and BDNF levels and the occurrence of different diseases.

Summary: In unmedicated adults with ADHD, serum levels of GDNF were comparable to healthy controls, with higher levels correlating with severe subjective inattention. These results suggest that serum GDNF level might not be a suitable biomarker for adult ADHD, but could be associated with the pathophysiology of persistent inattention in this population.

Summary: The peak alpha frequency (PAF) decreases during cutaneous pain, but there is limited research on PAF during movement-related muscle pain. Individuals with high pain sensitivity (HPS) exhibit a faster PAF response to muscle pain, while long-lasting movement-related pain can lead to a decrease in PAF, indicating a widespread change in cortical excitability independent of pain sensitivity.

Summary: The study revealed that neuroligin 1 (NLGN1) is expressed in prostatic and pancreatic cancer tissues and plays a role in promoting cancer cell invasion and migration. The neurotrophic factor glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) was found to be involved in tumor-nerve interactions and cooperate with NLGN1.
