Summary: This study investigated the effects of different concentrations of Clitoria ternatea flower extract (CTFE) on the color, texture, phytochemicals, and sensory quality of dried and cooked noodles. Results showed that dried noodles with 30% CTFE had the highest levels of anthocyanins, polyphenols, DPPH radical scavenging capacity, and reducing power. Cooking significantly reduced anthocyanin levels and blue color, while increasing the greenness of the noodles. Noodles with 20-30% CTFE showed higher color preference, and despite a reduction in cutting force and tensile strength, sensory attributes were similar to noodles without CTFE.

Summary: In this study, Clitoria ternatea (CT) was incorporated into sodium montmorillonite (Na+-MMT), and the resulting nanoparticles (CT-MMT) were added to sol-gel-based hybrid silanol coatings (SGC). The presence of CT in the structure of CT-MMT was confirmed by various characterization techniques. The addition of CT-MMT improved the corrosion resistance of the coatings and also exhibited antimicrobial properties against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Summary: This study evaluated the release of phenolic compounds from biodegradable films with Clitoria ternatea flower extract and their compostability. The results showed that the antioxidant activity and total phenolic compounds were dependent on the dose of ECT. The presence of ECT affected the composting process and mechanical properties of the films, and the type of simulating fluid influenced the release of polyphenols.

Summary: The development of biopolymer-based high-performance triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) is crucial for green energy technologies and innovative electronics. In this study, a novel TENG composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) functionalized with electron-donating groups from the Clitoria ternatea flower extract was proposed. The compatibility of the composite film in energy harvesting devices was tested, and it was found that the enhanced tribopositivity of the composite was due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The PVA-CT TENG exhibited higher open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current compared to other materials, as well as long-term stability. Additionally, the output of the TENG increased with an increase in relative humidity. The PVA-CT TENG also showed efficient charging of capacitors, powering LEDs, and acting as a self-powered smart counter. This study contributes to the development of eco-friendly materials for TENG fabrication and extends its applications in the Internet of Things, facilitating the building of futuristic smart cities.

Summary: Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) plays a significant role in shaping bacterial communities through conjugation-like events and transmissible plasmids. Bacillus cereus and related species possess numerous plasmids, including conjugative plasmids, which contribute to species differentiation. Although previous studies have reported conjugative plasmids in B. cereus isolates, in silico analyses suggest that there may be more self-transferable plasmids in B. cereus genomes. Laboratory conditions used for studying conjugation-related mechanisms are limited compared to natural environments. Considering the importance of B. cereus strains in health, economy, and ecology, it is crucial to understand the impact of conjugation within this bacterial group.
