Summary: This study investigates the indirect photolysis and debromination of the organic brominated pollutant decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE209) under visible light irradiation in the presence of humic acid (HA). The results show that HA induces electron transfer and facilitates the activation of C-Br bond via halogen bonds, resulting in the preferential cleavage of meta-C-Br bond. Furthermore, carboxyl group is identified as the key functional group capable of providing oxygen terminals to form halogen bonds.

Summary: The study found that prenatal exposure to background levels of PBDEs, especially BDE-47, was associated with lower IQ scores in boys, but not in girls. This suggests that exposure to PBDEs during early development may have a sex-dependent and detrimental effect on a child's neurodevelopmental trajectory.

Summary: The study investigated PBDE contamination in the microenvironment of family automobiles in Hangzhou City, China. Decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209) was found to be the major component, primarily sourced from volatile polyurethanes in seat covers and foot pads. Infants and toddlers were most exposed to PBDEs, with BDE-47 and -99 posing the primary health risks.

Summary: This study found that PBDEs in microplastics can leach upon ingestion, but the leaching kinetics of inherent contaminants from ingested microplastics are poorly understood. Although the bioaccumulation of PBDEs in fish oil can be accelerated in the gastrointestinal tract, the steady-state concentrations of PBDEs in cod tissue lipid through ingestion of microplastics were found to be below the lower end of the global PBDE concentration, suggesting that ingestion of microplastics by organisms remains a negligible pathway.

Summary: The study investigated the distribution, congener patterns, possible sources, and ecological risks of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in the surface sediments of 20 fishing ports along the coast of Bohai Sea. The results showed that BDE-209 was the dominant congener and high concentrations of PBDEs were found near Liaohe River, Haihe River, manufacturing plants of BFRs near Laizhou Bay, and tipping areas of marine garbage.

Summary: In this study, carbon isotope effects during the photodegradation of PBDEs were investigated using CSIA. Different PBDE congeners exhibited varying debromination trends, with higher fractionation observed for penta-BDEs compared to hexa-BDEs. The normal isotope effects observed support the utility of CSIA for evaluating PBDE photodegradation processes.

Summary: This study demonstrates that bioaugmentation with Dehalococcoides can accelerate the remediation of pentabrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in sediments, and the presence of tetrachloroethene (PCE) can improve the bioaugmentation performance. Ecological analysis shows that bioaugmentation leads to more deterministic microbial communities.

Summary: This study aims to analyze the concentrations of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in a population of blood donors over a 4-year period and evaluate their temporal trends. The median concentrations of PBDEs showed a downward trend from 2013 to 2014 and then increased after 2014. There were no correlations between age and PBDE congener concentrations, while concentrations were generally lower in females than in males.

Summary: The occurrence and impacts of emerging organic contaminants in Chinese surface water have been studied using a multi-criteria screening approach. The study developed a prioritization scheme based on hazard and exposure potentials to identify the top-priority and high-priority pollutants. The priority index effectively captured and integrated the results from other prioritization schemes based on exposure potential, hazard potential, or risk quotients.

Summary: The efficient mineralization and reaction mechanism of tetracycline (TC) were investigated using a heterogeneous H2O2⋯ bridge linked with active sites. The results showed that the catalysts enhanced electron transfer and reactive oxygen species (ROSs) generation, leading to complete degradation and excellent mineralization of TC. The interaction between Cu sites and in-situ electro-generated H2O2 promoted ROSs production through the bonding bridge, providing new insights into efficient ROSs production during the process.

Summary: In this study, a novel visible-light-driven photocatalyst (PCN@(m)CQDs-2) was successfully synthesized, which exhibited significantly improved degradation rate towards diclofenac (DCF) through regulating the supramolecular self-assembly process, microstructure, and band energy levels. Experimental results indicated that photogenerated holes played a dominant role in DCF degradation, while the contribution of hydroxyl radicals was negligible. Moreover, PCN@(m)CQDs-2 showed high toxicity reduction properties, mineralization ability, and reusability.

Summary: This article addresses the issue of multilabel learning with missing labels and proposes a method to recover the ground-truth label matrix and construct a multilabel classification model through regularized matrix factorization. By leveraging label correlations and local topological structure, the recovered label matrix and classification model are more accurate and effective. Experimental results show significant improvements over existing algorithms when handling both full-label and missing-label data.
