Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the treatment and prognosis of patients with esophageal perforation (EP) after radiotherapy in esophageal carcinoma (EC) patients. The majority of patients died within six months, with low survival and poor prognosis. Tube feeding therapy achieved relatively good survival, especially for patients with esophagomediastinal fistula (EMF). The survival rate of patients treated with tube feeding therapy was significantly better than that of patients treated with other methods.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of esophageal perforation management and identified predictive factors for 90-day mortality, failure-to-rescue, and major morbidity. The results showed that esophageal cancer was a predictive factor for both 90-day mortality and failure-to-rescue. Treating 8 or more cases of esophageal perforation annually was associated with a reduced risk of 90-day mortality and failure-to-rescue.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the prevalence and outcomes of esophageal perforation in very low birth weight infants. The results showed that esophageal perforation does not independently increase the risk for mortality, and there is a significant trend for increasing prevalence over the years. The study provides valuable insights into the prevalence and management of esophageal perforation in preterm infants.

Summary: ESD is the standard treatment for early-stage esophageal neoplasia, but difficulties such as failure of en bloc resection or perforation may occur. Studies have shown that larger lesion diameter and previous chemoradiotherapy are independent predictive factors for these difficulties.

Summary: The objective of this study was to review the experience of dealing with oncological emergency esophagectomies at a dedicated Cancer hospital. A retrospective review of data from eleven patients who underwent emergency esophagectomies at a cancer hospital in Pakistan was conducted. The study found that emergency esophagectomy is a lifesaving procedure, and early diagnosis and management are crucial.

Summary: Esophageal perforation (EP) in pediatric patients is rare but associated with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Endoscopic esophageal vacuum-assisted closure (EVAC) therapy has shown promise, but data on its use in children are limited. Further research is needed to evaluate the efficacy of EVAC in pediatric patients.

Summary: Tetracyclines, a class of broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotics, are used to treat various infections. However, they are associated with an increased risk of esophageal perforation and pseudotumor cerebri (PTC). It is important for clinicians to be aware of these side effects, especially since tetracyclines are commonly prescribed for acne treatment in adolescents.

Summary: Alveolar echinococcosis is a parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus multilocularis in the metacestode stage. The disease primarily affects the liver, with lung involvement present in approximately 13% of cases. This study evaluated computed tomography (CT) findings related to pulmonary involvement in cases of alveolar echinococcosis, which have been increasing worldwide in recent years.

Summary: Tracheomalacia is a condition that is usually congenital in children but can also be acquired in rare cases in adults. Patients typically experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, chronic cough, and recurrent respiratory tract infections. Diagnosis is often incidentally made through thoracic imaging. This study presents a case of a 70-year-old female patient who developed tracheomalacia after tracheal intubation.

Summary: This study presents a rare approach for the treatment of benign esophageal perforations in children - thoracic esophagostomy and intrathoracic esophagogastric anastomosis. The patient had a successful recovery with no complications observed during the four-year follow-up. This technique is believed to be safe and useful in carefully selected cases.
