Summary: The goal of cancer rehabilitation is to help patients recover physically and psychologically after acute cancer treatment and regain their social life. To assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions, it is important to measure their outcomes. This can be done through clinician reports, patient performance testing, observation of behavior, or direct patient feedback. This paper focuses on patient reports and provides an overview of available questionnaires for assessment and advice on their use. The use of electronic systems for collecting data is highlighted as the most promising approach. The assessment of patient perspective aims to inform decisions on choosing and reimbursing rehabilitation interventions based on patients' needs. The article reviews different types of clinical outcome assessments and emphasizes the importance of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) which provide direct reports from patients about their health condition without interpretation by a third party. The article also discusses the current state of PRO implementation in cancer rehabilitation, highlights trends in using PROs for value-based care, and provides examples of PRO usage and the benefits of electronic PRO collection. Advice is offered on selecting, implementing, and integrating PROs into cancer rehabilitation settings to maximize efficiency.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed 61 patients with sarcoid-like granulomatous orbitopathy (SLGO), finding that systemic sarcoidosis may be discovered in about two-thirds of patients, and that the treatment response appears similar among patients with known sarcoidosis and those with newly-diagnosed systemic disease after orbital presentation.

Summary: Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare condition that can cause kidney involvement and obstructive uropathy. In this study, the clinical characteristics, imaging findings, and long-term kidney outcomes of 195 ECD patients were analyzed. Kidney involvement was common, and patients with peri-kidney or peri-ureteral involvement had a higher risk of developing chronic kidney disease and kidney failure. Medical therapies were effective for ECD but had limited impact on improving kidney function. The study highlights the importance of monitoring and managing kidney complications in ECD patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics, potential risk factors, and long-term outcomes in EGPA patients with gastrointestinal (GI) involvement. The results showed that EGPA patients with GI involvement had higher levels of hs-CRP, higher grades of BVAS and FFS scores compared to those without GI involvement. During the follow-up period, EGPA patients with GI involvement had lower cumulative survival rate, lower long-term remission rate, and higher cumulative relapse rate.

Summary: This study revealed that cardiac indices are correlated with the severity of lung involvement and survival in patients with COVID-19. An increased cardiothoracic ratio was significantly associated with higher odds and hazard of death. Importantly, these cardiac indices could potentially be used for risk stratification and therapy decision-making in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the literature on rehabilitation concepts, clinical outcomes, and sporting performance after surgical or non-surgical treatment of Posterolateral Rotatory Instability of the elbow (PLRI). The majority of surgically treated patients with PLRI regain high acceptable results, but further research is needed to determine the postoperative level of performance of these athletes, as there is currently no consensus in the rehabilitative and conservative treatment modalities for patients with symptomatic PLRI.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate Dysphagia Days as a measure of symptom improvement in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis from the HEROES study. Dysphagia Days, defined as a yes answer to the question about food going down slowly or getting stuck in the throat or chest during any meal today, was assessed for cendakimab vs placebo. The results showed a significant reduction in the mean number of Dysphagia Days experienced with cendakimab, especially in steroid-refractory patients.

Summary: Standardized outcome reporting is crucial for trial evidence synthesis and translation of findings into clinical decision-making. The OMERACT 2.0 Filter provides a framework for consistent reporting of outcomes, but there is currently a lack of a uniform dermatology-specific reporting strategy. Our study aimed to map efficacy/effectiveness outcomes assessed in dermatological trials to the OMERACT 2.0 Filter to develop a dermatology-specific outcome taxonomy, highlighting the need for precise and consistent outcome definitions in dermatology trials.

Summary: This study reviewed the available literature on the subtle motor features in the prodromal phase of Parkinson's disease (PD) and aimed to provide insights for possible clinical trials. The findings revealed significant progress in understanding the evolution of motor features before PD diagnosis. Digital measures hold promise for improving measurement precision and can be used outside the clinic in naturalistic environments. Future research should focus on advancing digital sensor technology and analysis, as well as developing methods for clinical diagnosis of PD in a clinical trial context.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of people with MS and healthy controls on objective clinical vestibular tools, revealing that functions requiring central integration of vestibular information were impaired in people with MS and correlated with EDSS. Clinical evaluation of central vestibular integration functions may best assess MS-related vestibular dysfunction, suggesting that measures assessing central integration rather than reflexive functions may be more sensitive to identifying vestibular deficits in people with mild to moderate MS.

Summary: This systematic review examines the measurement quality of tools assessing activity and/or participation in adults with upper limb spasticity arising from neurological impairment. The findings suggest a lack of sufficient evidence to recommend one tool over another due to psychometric weaknesses and gaps in evidence, particularly for tools used with adults with spasticity. The study highlights the need for further research on emerging measurement properties of tools specifically designed for individuals with neurological conditions and upper limb spasticity.

Summary: The study aims to determine if Total UK FIM + FAM scores can identify patients in VS/MCS and examine outcomes from specialist rehabilitation. The study uses retrospective analysis and multicentre cohort analysis methods, and finds that FIM + FAM scores can identify patients in VS/MCS at a population level. Additionally, those who emerge from VS/MCS generate cost-savings that exceed the cost of the evaluation/rehabilitation program.

Summary: This study used machine learning techniques to predict the recovery of patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness using routine clinical data. The findings suggest that severe motor impairment, complex disability, medical and behavioral instability, and anoxic etiology are associated with non-recovery, while less severe motor impairment, agitated behavior, and complex disability are associated with recovery.
