Summary: This observational study reports the efficacy and safety of endoscopic full-thickness resection combined with purse-string sutures in treating postoperative fistula after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. The results showed that this innovative endoscopic strategy is safe, effective, and allows early oral feeding.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between tachycardia following sleeve gastrectomy and associated complications. The results showed that postoperative tachycardia increased the likelihood of bleeding and staple line leakage, and tachycardia was primarily caused by pain and other minor complications. Age over 40 years was a predictive factor for postoperative complications.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of bariatric surgery on olfactory changes in the short postoperative period. The results showed a deterioration of odor threshold in the bariatric surgery group compared to the control group 24 hours after surgery, with this change primarily occurring in patients undergoing LSG.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the feasibility and short-term clinical efficacy of triple-port laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (TPLDG) with five-port laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (FPLDG). The results showed that there were no significant differences in intraoperative and postoperative complication rate between the two groups. However, the TPLDG group had significantly lower time to abdominal drainage tube removal, NRS pain score on the first postoperative day, and hemameba level on the third postoperative day compared to the FPLDG group.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of GIST in 305 obese patients who underwent LSG, identifying 6 cases (1.97%) of low-grade tumors with negative resection margins. The findings suggest the need for further research to determine whether obesity is a risk factor for GIST, and that surgical resection is an effective treatment option.

Summary: This study assessed the clinical safety and feasibility of reduced port laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. The results showed that reduced port laparoscopic surgery had shorter operation time, less blood loss, and less invasive incision compared to conventional laparoscopic surgery. In terms of postoperative recovery effects, reduced port laparoscopic surgery had significant advantages over conventional laparoscopic surgery. There were no significant differences in pathological indices between the two groups. Therefore, reduced port laparoscopic surgery is a safe and feasible approach with good short-term postoperative effects for gastric cancer treatment.

Summary: The study aimed to identify variables that could predict postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients who underwent laparoscopic gastrectomy. By dividing the patients into PONV and No-PONV groups, using propensity score matching (PSM) to adjust for confounding factors, and performing ordinal logistic regression analysis, the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was found to be an independent risk factor for the presence and severity of PONV.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility and safety of same-day discharge (SDD) protocol for laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG). The results showed that SDD was successful in 96% of patients who met the discharge criteria, and the 90-day morbidity rate was similar to those who chose a same-day admission approach.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Fosaprepitant in combination antiemetic therapy for high-risk PONV patients. The results showed that the incidence of PONV during the first 24 postoperative hours was lower in the Fosaprepitant group compared to the placebo group, but the incidence of intraoperative hypotension was higher.

Summary: This study compared surgeons who had received fellowship training in LSG with those who had not, analyzing data on operating times and outcomes for the first 100 LSG cases of each surgeon. The results showed trained surgeons had faster and more consistent operating times, with no correlation between case number and weight loss outcomes or safety profiles for either group. This suggests that the learning curves for LSG are established during formal fellowship training.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (HP) and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). It was found that female sex, postoperative pain, and use of postoperative opioid were independent risk factors for PONV, while T2DM and OSAS reduced the incidence rate of PONV. There was no clear association between HP infection and PONV after LSG.
