Summary: This study shows that the desire to gain human capital is an important motive for corporate acquisitions. The implementation of the Inevitable Disclosure Doctrine (IDD) increases the likelihood of a company being acquired, especially for firms with more human capital and better employment opportunities for employees. IDD is also positively associated with the retention of target companies' key technicians, employees, and executives, as well as synergy creation, acquirers' announcement returns, and acquirers' long-term stock and operating performance.

Summary: The adoption of the inevitable disclosure doctrine (IDD) by US state courts has a positive impact on corporate tax avoidance by reducing information transparency and increasing opportunities for firms to engage in aggressive tax avoidance activities. Firms in states that have adopted IDD show a significant increase in tax avoidance compared to those in states that have not adopted it, especially for firms with lower internal information quality. These findings have important implications for both investors and regulators.

Summary: Children with Down's syndrome have poorer visual acuity compared to neurotypical children, and nystagmus leads to further visual impairment and a higher prevalence of myopia. However, nystagmus does not seem to affect the prevalence and axis direction of astigmatism.

Summary: The recognition of the Inevitable Disclosure Doctrine (IDD) increases the proprietary cost of disclosure, leading corporate managers to withhold more information, resulting in an increase in stock price synchronicity. This behavior leads to increases in the firm's market share, cost of equity, and market-to-book ratio, suggesting that managers prioritize product market gains over capital market benefits.

Summary: The study found differences in gut microbiota composition between individuals with Down's syndrome and healthy controls, with a decrease in abundance of Acidaminococcaceae in DS patients. Additionally, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis revealed increased modules related to peptidases and pyrimidine metabolism. Overall, it confirmed that gut microbiota alterations occurred in Chinese patients with DS, and that the fecal microbiota was closely related to DS cognitive impairment.

Summary: This article provides an ethical evaluation of two opposing views on foetal diagnosis – one emphasizing early detection for selective abortion, and the other opposing all screening. It argues that these views reveal ethical weaknesses in modern medical practice, including the neglect of patient's lives by focusing solely on diseases, and the failure to evaluate scientific facts in the context of patient care. The criticism from Down's syndrome activists is seen as particularly important.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors that can accurately classify previous concussion diagnosis status among collegiate student-athletes and service academy cadets. Machine learning techniques were used, and the results showed that both individual and institutional factors can achieve classification accuracy of over 50%. However, considering all factors, the average accuracy ranged from 56% to 65%. Similar performance was achieved when considering individual risk factors alone. In contrast, classifications using only institutional risk factors usually did not distinguish between diagnosed and undiagnosed concussions.
