Summary: This study investigates the production of geopolymers from brick flour and mixed rubble using an alkaline activator solution, and examines the effects of multiple reactivations on the structure and material properties. The results demonstrate that these geopolymers can be reactivated multiple times.

Summary: Scientific analysis of artistic and cultural heritage objects, especially the chemical composition, provides valuable information that cannot be obtained solely through art historical investigations. Advances in X-ray analytical methods, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and Particle-Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) analysis, enable non-destructive investigation of fragile and precious objects. Sophisticated set-ups using particle accelerators or portable instrumentation are employed for sensitive and in-situ measurements. Highlights include limoges school enamels, manuscripts of Goethe and Schiller, the sceptre of Charlemagne, medieval metal objects, silverpoint drawings from the Renaissance, and Indian Mughal paintings.

Summary: Engineers working in industrial construction often face challenges when designing, calculating, or building crane runways, which have different requirements from normal structures. Mistakes in handling crane runways can affect their functionality, stability, or durability, but these errors can be avoided to prevent negative consequences.

Summary: This paper develops an AI-based assistant for the pre-design and design of steel frame halls, increasing efficiency in the design and construction processes. Through data analysis, suitable AI surrogate models are trained to predict hall parameters, and an interface with the finite element program SOFiSTiK is implemented for calculation and design. The successful implementation of the prototypical co-pilot for steel frame halls and its stability are demonstrated, with future developments and applications discussed.

Summary: Existing models of disability lack historical grounding and cannot serve as a framework for a theory of disability due to political motivations. In contrast, Norbert Elias' process-sociological model provides a theoretical framework for describing and explaining historical developments, allowing for a diachronic and empirical comparison of epochs. Applied to disability, a historical analysis can expand perspectives and inform future approaches to this increasingly socially important phenomenon.

Summary: This article describes Karl von Frisch's visit to the Zoological Station in Naples in March 1911. During his stay, Frisch studied the color adaptation of marine fish and also engaged in extensive tourist activities. Frisch's case was not an exception, as many scientists often combined tourism and leisure with their research. The article explores the relationships between labor, recreation, research, and tourism, based on Frisch's notes, and examines the financial aspect of his stay in Naples.

Summary: This article examines the participation rates in referendums in German federal states between 1946 and 2019, using Rational Choice Theory to identify three key factors that affect participation rates: high expected benefits for voters, reduced participation costs, and expected close results. This research can provide valuable insights for future empirical research on referendum participation in Germany.

Summary: The teaching profession is facing a shortage of teachers, particularly male teachers. Past research has shown that students' career choices are influenced by the perceived gender fit of a profession. This is especially relevant for adolescent boys and their perception of teaching as a predominantly feminine profession. In an experimental study, it was found that manipulating the gender fit of the teaching profession increased male students' intention to become teachers, while female students were not affected. The implications for gender-bias free recruitment of future teachers are discussed.

Summary: This study investigated the ultrasonic welding process applied to papers, revealing the high sensitivity of the process to parameters such as vibration amplitude, power, and sample thickness. A significant decrease in the strength of welded joints was observed when working with low thicknesses.

Summary: This bibliometric study aimed to examine the focus of publications, type of study, and publication activities of authors in German university departments for orthopaedic surgery, based on their hierarchy level and gender. The study found that most publications were related to lower extremity injuries or impairments, particularly the hip, followed by the upper extremity. These publications focused on diagnostic testing, surgical techniques, and special osteosyntheses. The study also found that department heads had a lower proportion of first authors, while senior physicians with management functions and senior physicians without management functions had higher proportions of first authors. Additionally, the study highlighted the underrepresentation of women authors and the need for mentorship programs to support the publication activities of female applicants.
