Summary: The purpose of this study was to examine the test-retest reliability, and convergent and discriminative validity of a new taekwondo-specific change-of-direction (COD) speed test with striking techniques (TST) in elite taekwondo athletes. The results showed that the test is valid, sensitive, and reliable for evaluating COD speed with taekwondo specific skills, although its effectiveness in detecting small performance changes is questioned.

Summary: Inactivity has a negative impact on general health, and sedentary behavior affects the musculoskeletal system. This study aimed to assess the influence of active and sedentary behavior on foot muscle strength. The results showed that both prolonged sitting and low-to-moderate activity led to a significant decrease in peak ankle torque. The average peak torque was higher in the active behavior group compared to the static behavior group.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of COVID-19 on foot muscle strength and demonstrated the reproducibility of peak ankle torque measurements using a custom-made electronic dynamometer. The results showed that there were no significant differences in peak torque variability between the COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 groups.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of custom-fitted compression garments worn during recovery over a multi-day training camp in elite judo players. The results showed that compression garments did not have a statistically significant impact on recovery markers and muscle damage responses were inconsistent.

Summary: This study aimed to fabricate effective, specially designed, custom-made mouthguards for athletes undergoing orthodontic treatment, and to evaluate the shock absorption abilities of three different designs. The results showed that inserting a hard material and creating buffer space inside the mouthguard could effectively reduce strain on the dentition during impact.

Summary: This study develops an artificial neural network model to automatically obtain the relationship between assisting sliding distance and speed. The model uses simulation data and real-world measurements to predict the launch speed for athletes in the aerials event of freestyle skiing. The results show that the designed deep transfer learning model is efficient in predicting the assisting sliding distance and launch speed.
