The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of primers on the bond strength and durability of an acrylic resin luting agent bonded to zirconia. Disk specimens were fabricated from zirconia partially stabilized with yttrium oxide. The disks were primed with one of the following materials: Alloy Primer (AP), Ceramic Primer (CP), Liquid A of the Porcelain Liner M (PLM-A), Liquid B of Porcelain Liner M (PLM-B), Porcelain Liner M (PLM-A+PLM-B), Monobond Plus (MP), and mixture of AP and PLM-B. The specimens were bonded with a tri-n-butylborane (TBB) -initiated luting agent. The shear bond strengths were determined both before and after thermocycling. The results were statistically analyzed with a non-parametric procedure. The highest post-thermocycling bond strength was generated from the groups primed with MP, CP, and AP. It can be concluded that the application of three phosphate primers is recommended for bonding the zirconia with the TBB-initiated luting agent.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effects of an experimental primer containing acetone solution and MDTHP on the bonds between noble metals and acrylic resin. Results showed that the MDTHP primer exhibited higher post-thermocycling shear bond strengths on all the four metals, especially on silver and copper. Within the study's limitations, MDTHP may be applicable as a functional monomer for bonding noble metal alloys.

Summary: This study demonstrates that high bond strength between zirconia and veneering porcelain can be achieved through surface treatment with selected melted fluoride compounds. Shear bond strengths varied significantly among different treatment groups, with differences observed in CTE values between 6Y-TZP and veneering porcelain, the instability and phase transformation of 3Y-TZP, and the different performance of various treatment groups.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of copper surface oxidation and reduction on the shear-bond strength with functional monomers. The results showed different treatments and functional monomers had varied effects on the shear-bond strength. The presence or absence of copper-oxide films affected the effectiveness of functional monomers in improving bond strength.

Summary: Cast titanium restoration for molars is highly biocompatible and covered by Japanese national health insurance. Specific investment material and casting apparatus are required for titanium casting. This study successfully fabricated a titanium cast restoration for the mandibular left second molar with no defects observed, proving reproducibility and polishing properties comparable to conventional dental metal restorations.
