Summary: This study investigated the effect of repeated pre-polymerization heating on the color and translucency of a one-shaded resin-based composite and its color stability. Samples were fabricated and subjected to different heating cycles before polymerization. Results showed that heating cycles significantly influenced the color coordinates, whiteness, and translucency of the composite. However, the color changes after staining were clinically unacceptable regardless of the number of heating cycles.

Summary: A novel procedure for symmetric and consistent layer thickness management in esthetic direct restoration of anterior teeth is presented. By correctly managing the bilateral and symmetric layer thickness of composite materials, a predictable esthetic outcome of the restorations can be achieved.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the color stability of three layering materials of SR Nexco lab composite under exposure to coffee, Coca-Cola, and turmeric solutions. The results showed that turmeric caused the most discoloration, followed by cola and coffee. The color stability of SR Nexco paste was significantly affected by the discoloring agents used. However, there was no statistically significant difference in color change between the three layering materials.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of a blocker on color matching of different shaded composite systems on natural teeth. Restorations using multi-shaded, single-shaded, and group-shaded resin composites were applied to prepared cavities on anterior teeth. The application of the blocker had minimal impact on color matching, except in visual evaluations by dentists. Therefore, the blocker may be used in dentin shade in 2 mm deep cavities of anterior teeth.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the masking ability of resin composite layering on discolored substrates with monolithic ceramics. The experiment found that different types and thicknesses of ceramics, as well as the layering of different materials, could effectively mask the discoloration of the substrates. Rating: 8 out of 10.

Summary: This review article summarizes the current literature on color interaction between resin composite layers. Various methods were found in the literature to test layered resin composites, each study providing unique insights that could be applied to clinical use. Further research on resin composite layering could enhance the efficiency of restorative treatment and increase satisfaction for both clinicians and patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of structural color phenomenon in resin composites on color adjustment of tooth restorations. Comparing the color reproduction performance of different RCs, it was found that OMN showed greater potential for color adjustment compared to conventional A2-shade RCs and experimental RCs with fumed silica fillers and spherical fillers.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of artificial aging on the color stability and hardness of nanocomposite resin materials. Results showed that aging affected the Delta E00 values of the resin materials, with Filtek Z350 XT exhibiting the highest Delta E00 values. Hardness increased in all four nanocomposite resins after aging, and there was no correlation between Delta E00 and hardness change percentage.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of background color and restoration depth on the color adjustment potential of a new single-shade resin composite compared to multi-shade resin composites. The results showed that the color adjustment potential depended on the type of resin composite, background color, and restoration depth, highlighting the importance of shade selection. Charisma Diamond One exhibited the highest color adjustment potential and the most pronounced color shifting.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the degree of pigment penetration within composite resins to improve color stability. The results showed significant differences in penetration depth between the nano-filled and non-homogeneous micro-hybrid composites. Furthermore, the resin materials treated with pigments exhibited different patterns of color variation.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the physical and optical stability of resin composite materials with different filler characteristics. It was found that the microhardness, water sorption, and solubility varied significantly among the tested groups. The optical stability was also affected after staining and aging challenges. Clinicians should consider the filler characteristics when choosing resin composites.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different shades of composite resin foundation and cement on the optical behavior of three different resin-matrix ceramics. Results showed that color differences in certain groups were perceptible but clinically acceptable, indicating that the shade of the foundation and cement can influence the color match of restorations.

Summary: The objective of this study was to define the color of anterior teeth of a selected population and correlate it with the color of all possible enamel-dentine combinations of three different resin composite systems. The results showed that the color space of the resin composite systems did not fully match the color range of anterior teeth. It was suggested to use 0.5 mm enamel thickness when building layered restorations for better color coverage.
