Summary: Developing efficient and stable hydrogen oxidation reaction catalysts with low platinum (Pt) loading is essential for anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs). In this study, Pt nanoparticles supported on functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are synthesized using thermal reduction for hydrogen oxidation reaction. The influence of functionalization and reduction temperatures on Pt/CNTs is investigated. The results show that Pt/CNT obtained at 250 degrees C exhibits high activity (77.4 mA mg-Pt1 @& eta; = 50 mV, 3.5 times of commercial 20% Pt/C) and superior stability towards hydrogen oxidation reaction, attributed to the high dispersity of ultrafine nano-Pt on the nanotubes. The findings of this study can guide the application of CNTs as support for low Pt catalysts in alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction.

Summary: A new study proposed using YSZ supported Fe2O3 to prepare oxygen carrier materials, demonstrating high reactivity and stability. The Fe2O3/YSZ20 composite showed high hydrogen yield and production rate, outperforming Fe2O3/Al2O3. Additionally, transient pulse test indicated that active oxygen diffusion was the rate-limiting step during the redox process.

Summary: The total synthesis of long proteins involves assembling multiple fragments through successive ligations, with solid-supported chemical ligation (SPCL) as a potential solution to the need for intermediate purification steps. An alternative enzymatic approach was used to trigger cleavage under extremely mild and selective conditions, enabling the successful assembly of a 15 kDa polypeptide.

Summary: This paper obtains bidiagonal factorizations for the change of basis matrices between monomial and Newton polynomial bases. The total positivity of these matrices is characterized by the sign of the nodes of the Newton bases. High relative accuracy computations for algebraic problems related to these matrices can be achieved when the nodes have the same sign. Stirling matrices are special cases of these matrices, and accurate solutions for collocation and Wronskian matrices of Touchard polynomial bases can be obtained. Numerical experimentation confirms the accuracy of the solutions obtained using the proposed factorizations when solving algebraic problems.

Summary: Designing catalyst for ammonia synthesis at mild conditions is a meaningful challenge. In this study, defective g-C3N4 nanosheet supported single-cluster ruthenium and iron catalysts were investigated. It was found that the Ru-3/N-v-g-C3N4 catalyst exhibited a much higher turnover frequency than Ru(0001) at industrial reaction conditions. The reaction on Ru-3/N-v-g-C3N4 occurred through both dissociative and alternative associative mechanisms, while on Fe-3/N-v-g-C3N4 catalyst, it solely proceeded through the dissociative pathway.

Summary: The cascade reaction promoted by MnO2 allows the synthesis of fused tricycles with a naphthalene core under ambient conditions. This practical synthetic tool utilizes inexpensive and abundant manganese species, affording products through propargyl alcohol oxidation, stepwise Diels-Alder cyclization, and rearomatization. Density functional theory shows that the usually unfavorable stepwise Diels-Alder mechanism can be a general tool for challenging dearomative annulation.

Summary: A sequential strategy enables the challenging assembly of dihydronaphthalenes through the key annulation of an alkyne with a vinylarene under mild conditions. The products are obtained in good yields and exhibit high functional tolerance, thanks to the domino nucleophilic substitution and dearomative Diels-Alder and ene reactions. DFT modeling data suggest that alkali cations play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth dearomative cyclization of the in situ generated intermediates.

Summary: This manuscript provides an overview of the literature on trinuclear complexes with delocalized metal-metal bonds resembling regular aromatics, composed of main group elements. The focus is on the structural and electronic features of stable aromatic clusters, along with their reported catalytic applications, including C-C forming cascades and cross-coupling methods. These examples highlight the unique reactivity exhibited by all-metal aromatic complexes, which often surpass their mononuclear counterparts in terms of chemoselectivity and chemical robustness.
