Summary: In this article, a new scheme for enhancing the cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) of a dual-polarized dipole antenna pair is proposed and applied to a dipole antenna array. The scheme induces coherent currents on a pair of vertical monopoles from the feeding line, effectively compensating for the electric field component in a wide scanning angle. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Summary: The extraction process of crude oil involves adding water to form complex emulsions, which need to be separated before petrochemical processing. An ultrasonic cell has been developed to determine the water content in real time in water-in-crude oil emulsions. The cell provides more precise parameters and can be used to improve emulsion separation, reducing greenhouse gases and energy requirements.

Summary: This review evaluated the effectiveness of disinfection methods in contamination control of dental unit waterlines. The findings suggest that using independent water reservoirs with distilled water and combining flushing with disinfection can effectively disinfect DUWLs. Most chlorine, chlorhexidine, and peroxide-containing disinfectants, mouthrinses, and citrus botanical extracts met the disinfection standard. Regularly changing disinfectants can reduce the risk of disinfectant-resistant strains.

Summary: We developed a test kit for detecting cyanide using nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) as a fluorescent probe. The kit achieved high selectivity and sensitivity with a quantum yield of 57.9%. The detection mechanism involved a fluorescence turn-on approach based on the reaction between N-GQDs and cyanide.

Summary: A novel leaf sensor based on photon attenuation during the passage of light through the leaf was tested and validated for monitoring plant water status. The signals recorded by the sensor showed good agreement with classical measurements of plant water relations during repeated water stress and rewatering cycles, indicating its sensitivity, non-destructive nature, and ease of use. The sensor is considered a promising tool for smart irrigation scheduling to reduce water wastage.

Summary: A novel energy harvester has been proposed, designed, and validated in this paper for energy harvesting from flowing water to supply hydrometric monitoring systems. By coupling the kinetic energy via an oscillating mass equipped with a magnetic spring, the harvester can accommodate the power supply, electronics, and sensors in a completely closed housing, and energy management circuit and battery charging circuit were developed.

Summary: This study proposes a contactless DC current measurement method suitable for on-site measurements of HVdc overhead lines. The method utilizes a magnetic field sensor array to measure the spatial magnetic fields and accurately calculate the current values using a core current algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and low measurement error of the proposed method.
