Summary: The meta-analysis revealed a linear relationship between coronary and carotid atherosclerosis, with carotid plaque features associated with coronary artery disease. Moderate correlations were found between carotid intima-media thickness and the severity of CAD, as well as carotid and coronary stenosis.

Summary: This study used meta-analysis and meta-regression to investigate the effects of statin medications on coronary plaque volume. The results showed that statins promote plaque regression, which might be associated with their anti-inflammatory ability.

Summary: In this randomized two-center trial, a diagnostic algorithm including Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Tuberculosis did not increase the proportion of correctly managed patients with suspected extrapulmonary tuberculosis versus control, but increased definite tuberculosis.

Summary: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are potential therapeutic targets and their role in patients with coronary artery aneurysmal disease (CAAD) is not well understood. This study aimed to confirm the differences in expression of preselected miRNAs and evaluate their usefulness as markers of CAAD. The study included 35 CAAD patients (Group 1) and two groups of 35 age and sex-matched patients (Group 2 and Group 3). The analysis showed that the levels of five preselected miRNAs were different in CAAD patients compared to Group 2 and Group 3. MiR-451a and miR-328 were found to significantly improve the prediction of CAAD.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the effects of IPE as an adjunct to statin therapy on atherosclerotic plaque characteristics in high-risk cardiovascular patients with persistently high triglyceride levels. The interim analysis at 9 months showed that while there was no significant change in low attenuation plaque, there was a slowing of total non-calcified plaque, total plaque, fibrous plaque, and calcified plaque in the IPE group compared to placebo.

Summary: A simple, precise and inexpensive spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the assay of rivaroxaban raw material and its tablets. The method relies on the quenching effect of rivaroxaban on the fluorescence intensity of acetoxymercuric fluorescein (AMF). Parameters such as pH, AMF solution concentration, reaction time and diluting solvents were optimized. The developed method was validated according to ICH guidelines in terms of accuracy, precision, linearity, range, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ).

Summary: In this study, the impact of external vein graft support devices on intimal hyperplasia did not reach statistical significance, but the overall mortality and major cardiac or cerebrovascular event rates were similar to other coronary artery bypass trials. Further investigation is needed to assess the effect of external support devices on long-term graft patency and clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study demonstrated that OCT-guided PCI was noninferior to IVUS-guided PCI in terms of major cardiovascular events at one year in patients with significant coronary artery lesions, with a lower incidence of major procedural complications in the OCT group compared to the IVUS group. There was no significant difference in the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy between the two groups.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of hydrodilatation with 40 mg triamcinolone acetonide (TA) and 10 mg TA in patients with adhesive capsulitis (AC). The results showed that both groups experienced improvements in SPADI, VAS score, and ROM at the 12-week follow-up, with no significant differences between the two. A low dose of TA would be preferable for ultrasound-guided hydrodilatation for AC considering the potential detrimental effects of corticosteroids on adjacent cartilage and tendons.
