Summary: This study found that malnourished individuals with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) exhibit increased activation of inflammatory pathways and higher expression of risk signatures associated with progression to TB, compared to control individuals. These findings suggest the potential for TB risk biomarkers to identify malnourished LTBI individuals for targeted therapy.

Summary: This study investigates the immunomodulatory effects of complex probiotics on immunosuppressed mice induced by cyclophosphamide. The results showed that the complex probiotics significantly improved immune indices, intestinal barrier, leukocyte and lymphocyte counts, splenic lymphocyte subpopulations, cytokine levels, and gut microbiota in the immunosuppressed mice. This study provides theoretical support for the immune-enhancing function of complex probiotics and their potential pharmacological development and utilization.

Summary: Extensive research has identified the core components of Hippo signaling in Drosophila and mammals. The Hippo pathway controls tissue homeostasis by regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis, and may have a potential role in autoimmune disease. Understanding the role of Hippo signaling pathways in immune regulation is crucial for exploring novel therapeutic targets in AID.

Summary: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a globally distributed lethal pathogen, has developed antiphagocytic defenses and effector systems for adaptation. While losing the ability for lateral gene transfer, it retains the adaptability characteristic of mycobacteria. Studies of its evolution have provided important insights into the formation of new pathogens.

Summary: Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an inflammatory disease similar to multiple sclerosis (MS), characterized by relapsing optic neuritis and myelitis. Autoantibodies against NMO play a crucial role in the inflammatory pathology involving proinflammatory cytokines and various inflammatory cells. Recent clinical trials have shown the efficacy of specific antibodies in preventing NMO relapses.

Summary: This study compared the contribution of Treg cells, IDO, and HO-1 in mice infected with Mtb strains of different virulences. It found that these factors were detrimental for immune protection in mild virulence infection, but beneficial in highly virulent infection by regulating excessive inflammation.

Summary: Using single-cell RNA sequencing, this study found that Mtb infection leads to significant changes in the composition of immune cells in the lung, specifically in three subsets of macrophages associated with TB infection. One of these subsets, MM-CCL23, derived from monocytes after stimulation with Mtb, showed high levels of chemokine production and may serve as a marker for Mtb infection. The MM-CCL23 population primarily recruits CD8-CCR6 T cells through CCL20/CCR6, which is associated with protective immunity in LTBI.

Summary: This study aims to identify novel DNA methylation sites associated with endobronchial tuberculosis (EBTB) and understand their underlying pathological mechanisms. By performing genome-wide DNA methylation and mRNA expression profiling, the researchers identified 1258 DNA methylation regions (DMRs) associated with EBTB and established regulatory chains between DNA methylation and mRNA expression. The findings provide valuable resources for epigenetics studies in EBTB and enhance our understanding of the role of DNA methylation in EBTB pathology.

Summary: A novel biomimetic nanoparticle system was designed to enhance both targeted chemotherapy and immune response in solid tumor therapy. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that this system effectively promoted antitumor efficiency and increased CD8+ T cell activation and cytokine production, while reducing myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) levels in tumors.

Summary: Tuberculosis is a fast spreading, transmissible disease with a high death rate due to a lack of appropriate treatment and preventative measures. Researchers have developed a multi-epitope vaccine against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and conducted validation studies, which show that the vaccine is stable and effective in the biological environment.
