Summary: This study reveals that functionalized cerium oxide nanoparticles with heparin corona can promote angiogenesis, with the surface grafting density positively correlated with angiogenesis. Heparin-nanoceria supports FGF2 signaling in vitro and promotes FGF2-mediated angiogenesis in vivo.

Summary: The study suggests that exposure to MNMs at the ALI is more sensitive than under classical submerged conditions, especially for titania NPs. Titania NPs not only triggered cytotoxicity and inflammatory responses, but also induced genotoxicity. Further development of ALI systems may potentially replace acute pulmonary toxicity studies in animals.

Summary: A novel amplification approach using multivalent cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeNPs) is proposed to enhance the sensitivity of colorimetric assays for detection of beta-galactosidase (beta-Gal) activity. The method catalyzes the oxidation of 4-aminophenol (4-AP) produced in the hydrolysis process of the substrate, resulting in increased detection sensitivity in the visible range. The assay shows high sensitivity and ease of use, with potential broad applications in various fields.

Summary: Cu-AMNs have advantages in cell treatment such as low mitochondrial damage, reduced ATP consumption, decreased cytotoxicity, mild reactive oxygen species generation, enhanced angiogenic paracrine factor secretion, and improved HIF1 alpha expression. The transplantation of Cu-AMN-treated hADSCs led to a significant increase in angiogenesis and blood perfusion in a mouse hindlimb ischemia model compared with conventional hADSC therapy.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the bioavailability of curcumin and evaluate the synergistic effect of curcumin-reconstituted high-density lipoprotein nanoparticles on MGO-induced endothelial dysfunction in diabetic patients. The results showed that Cur-rHDL nanoparticles can alleviate MGO-induced cytotoxicity and oxidative stress, protect endothelial cell barrier integrity, and enhance the bioavailability of curcumin.

Summary: Bimetallic Pt-Ir alloy nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a microwave-assisted method and used as catalysts for toluene combustion. The Pt2.5Ir/CeO2 catalyst showed excellent low-temperature catalytic activity, attributed to the interaction between Pt and Ir, richer adsorbed oxygen species, and low-temperature reducibility.

Summary: Septins are conserved cytoskeletal GTP-binding proteins found in almost all eukaryotes except higher plants. In mammals, septins have diverse functions and expression patterns, particularly in endothelial cells and platelets, playing crucial roles in hemostasis and various cellular processes. However, the precise function of septins in the biology of endothelial cells and platelets remains poorly understood.

Summary: This study investigated the interactions between acetaminophen and cerium dioxide, showing that cerium dioxide nanomaterials can translocate into other organs upon inhalation. Results indicated an attenuated cytotoxicity and altered metabolic profile in co-exposure experiments, suggesting an interaction of both compounds at these endpoints. Single exposure to cerium dioxide showed a genotoxic effect while acetaminophen exhibited no genotoxic effect.

Summary: This study successfully conjugated the serine protease inhibitor EcTI with quantum dots (QDs) to form the QDs-EcTI nanoprobe and investigated its interaction with cancer cells. The results showed that the conjugate had a higher relative fluorescence intensity compared to bare QDs or EcTI alone, and the inhibitory activity of EcTI remained intact after interaction with QDs. Flow cytometry analysis demonstrated that the QD-EcTI conjugate could label multiple cancer cells. This study provides valuable insights into the interaction between proteases and inhibitors in cancer cells.

Summary: Research has shown that the decoration of fibrinogen (Fg) on the surface of silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) can attenuate their pro-autophagic activity in non-phagocytic cells; however, this effect is compromised in phagocytic cells. Further investigation revealed that coronal Fg has dual effects on tuning the autophagic response induced by SiO2 NPs.

Summary: A sodium alginate (SA) based photothermal hydrogel dressing was developed to address the challenges in chronic diabetic wound healing. Ceria nanoparticles (CeO(2)NPs) were synthesized and their antibacterial performance was studied using near-infrared light triggered photothermal effects. The Gel/SA/CeO2 hydrogel displayed temperature-responsive release of CeO(2)NPs, significant antibacterial and antioxidative activity, and promoted infected diabetic wound healing with low cytotoxicity.

Summary: This study targets lymphatic endothelial cells (LEC) using ionizable lipid-formulated nanoparticles (LNPs) complexed with Apolipoprotein E (ApoE). The LNPs are taken up by LECs in an ApoE-dependent manner, as shown in in vitro studies. Modifying the surface of the LNPs with a high density of PEG-conjugated lipids with short acyl chains enables effective targeting of LECs after subcutaneous administration. This approach significantly inhibits the expression of the LEC marker VEGFR3.
