Summary: The study aimed to observe the effect of prophylactic intravenous nalbuphine in reducing pain after laparoscopic total hysterectomy and investigate the impact of different nalbuphine doses on postoperative analgesia and adverse reactions. The results showed that nalbuphine at a certain dose effectively reduced postoperative pain, with the dose of 0.280 mg/kg being the most effective.

Summary: To assess the impact of dexmedetomidine on patient recovery from anesthesia in gynecologic laparoscopic surgery, 74 patients were recruited and randomly assigned to either receive saline or dexmedetomidine before anesthesia induction. Dexmedetomidine significantly shortened respiratory recovery time, awakening time, orientation recovery time, and extubation time compared to the control group. Furthermore, dexmedetomidine maintained hemodynamic stability and resulted in a lower incidence of postoperative adverse reactions. Overall, dexmedetomidine was found to improve recovery outcomes in patients undergoing gynecologic laparoscopy without increasing the risk of adverse events.

Summary: The addition of midazolam to the dual prophylaxis of ondansetron and dexamethasone did not have an additive preventive effect on PONV after gynecologic laparoscopy, as the complete response rate and incidence of PONV were similar between the control group and midazolam group.

Summary: This review article discusses the advancements of robotics-based procedures in the medical industry. The purpose of surgical robots is to enhance surgical abilities and address human limitations. The study finds that robotic technology offers assistance in complex operations and has a lower conversion rate compared to traditional surgery. However, in benign gynecological illnesses, there is no substantial benefit of robotics over traditional laparoscopic surgery.

Summary: This article introduces surgical coaching as an evidence-based strategy for achieving lifelong learning and practice improvement, which can help fulfill the vision of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Surgical coaching involves a partnership between two surgeons, with one guiding the other in setting goals, providing feedback, and facilitating action planning. It is viewed as valuable by both coaches and participants.

Summary: This article provides a systematic review of studies on the use of narrow-band imaging (NBI) in gynecological endoscopy. The findings suggest that NBI improves the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity in detecting malignant and premalignant lesions in hysteroscopy, as well as the detection of endometriotic lesions and cervical lesions.

Summary: Obtaining medical consent is a crucial step in surgical preparation and informed decision making with patients. Valid consent should involve elements of competence, disclosure, understanding, and voluntariness, and documentation of these elements is essential. The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics has developed guidelines and checklists to improve the quality of consent worldwide.

Summary: Robotic-assisted surgery is widely used in gynecology and is rapidly developing in the field of minimally invasive surgery. However, there is conflicting information about the advantages and disadvantages of robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgery. Most studies suggest that robotic-assisted surgery does not have a significant advantage over traditional laparoscopic surgery, but ongoing technological progress may improve its effectiveness.

Summary: This study investigated the differences between tissue sealers and classic bipolar instruments in gynecological laparoscopies performed by residents. The results showed that residents using tissue sealers reported better visibility, reduced difficulty, improved overall satisfaction, and reduced procedure time. Tissue sealers also reduced intraoperative blood loss and postoperative pain in salpingo-oophorectomies.
