Summary: This paper presents a novel design of a family of multiplier-free orthogonal wavelet filter banks (FBs) with low complexity. The proposed method ensures maximum number of zeros at z = -1 for a desired length of analysis and synthesis filters. A new technique is proposed to obtain dyadic filter coefficients based on double shifting orthogonality property. The designed wavelet FB improves time-frequency product, Sobolev regularity and frequency selectivity over existing wavelet FBs. In addition, a fixed point VLSI architecture is proposed for the designed family of orthogonal wavelet FBs.

Summary: This study proposes a new wavelet sparsity enhancement methodology for artifact-free extraction of bearing transient vibration signatures. The wavelet sparsity is enhanced through wavelet basis design and wavelet coefficient processing. An adaptive undecimated fractional spline wavelet transform is introduced to address the shift-invariant problem and customize an optimal wavelet basis adaptively. A two-step wavelet processing method is also presented to remove low-frequency noise. The validity of the methodology is verified with analysis results of vibration signals measured from fault-injection experiment and industrial wind turbine transmission system. The methodology shows advantages in suppressing artifacts and extracting sparse transient vibration signatures of bearing structural damages.

Summary: Cerebral Angiography analysis is crucial for assessing the future of stroke patients who underwent thrombolysis, with the parenchymogram containing valuable information on reperfusion quality. The proposed methods for extracting the parenchymogram from raw angiographies rely on basis pursuit and overcomplete wavelet transform for image representation, showing essential information for comparing blood flow before and after thrombolysis in clinical data.

Summary: This paper introduces a new method called Discrete Convolution Wavelet Transform (DCWT) for signal decomposition and reconstruction, which can decompose and reconstruct original signal by two groups of filters. The DCWT method can fast decompose signal to obtain its feature signals, and it will become a new idea of signal decomposing and identifying in practice.

Summary: This investigation aims to obtain an accurate approximation of the spectrum of Sturm-Liouville problems in Double-struck capital R+ by representing the unknown solution in the interpolating wavelet basis of L2(Double-struck capital R). The study uses domain stretching and equation transformation techniques to handle the problem, and approximates the new function using an appropriate basis generated by scale functions. The results show that the interpolating wavelet basis obtained through the collocation method can reliably reveal the spectrum of solvable and quasi-exactly solvable Sturm-Liouville problems in Double-struck capital R+ with high accuracy.
