Summary: This study investigated the correlation between the extent of educational research article citations and the content accuracy. The analysis of 500 randomly selected citations from articles published between 2016 and 2020 and listed in the Web of Science Core Collection revealed an overall accuracy rate of 85%. The accuracy of citations was not influenced by their specificity or bibliometric characteristics. However, the severity of citation mistakes was related to the specificity of the referenced source's description and whether it was authored by colleagues or the authors themselves.

Summary: Deviations from Brownian motion leading to anomalous diffusion are commonly found in transport dynamics, but challenging to characterize. An open competition comparing different approaches for single trajectory analysis showed that machine learning methods outperform classical approaches.

Summary: A study analyzed the quality of scientific citations in Wikipedia using a massive database and machine learning algorithms, finding that most cited scientific articles are uncited or untested by subsequent studies, showing a wide variability in contradicting or supporting evidence. Additionally, a similar pattern was found in scientific articles from journals indexed in the Web of Science.

Summary: The study aimed to quantitatively analyze the research outputs of studies on post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) published over the past 30 years using bibliometric analysis. The results showed an increasing trend in the number of PHN-related publications and the academic achievements of Korean pain physicians in this field, but there is a relatively small proportion of studies on interventional treatments. Therefore, Korean pain physicians need to strengthen academic research on interventional treatment to expand their role in this field and improve the outcomes of PHN patients.

Summary: We introduce and analyze a simple probabilistic model that assumes no decline in the citability of articles over time, making predictions about the number and age of items in reference lists. Our model fits well with the aggregated data and provides a useful tool for further modeling scholarly literature.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the importance of imaging and imaging specialists in publications in non-imaging journals. All English indexed articles on the Embase database between 1989 and 2019 were extracted to determine the number and affiliation of authors. A naive Bayesian classifier algorithm was used to classify abstracts as imaging or non-imaging. The main outcomes were the number and position of imaging specialists in the authorship of imaging articles published in non-imaging journals.

Summary: This article proposes a probabilistic forecasting framework based on a multimodel seasonal forecast ensemble to predict the end of the freeze-free season. The forecast utilizes survival analysis techniques and postprocessing to improve accuracy. Results from a case study in Fennoscandia show that the proposed forecasts outperform a climatology forecast for predicting the time to hard freeze.

Summary: The main purpose of this short communication is to identify and analyze retracted editorials in the biomedical literature. Twenty-five out of 33 editorials were selected for further analysis. The majority of the editorials were retracted due to plagiarism and data-related issues. Concerningly, one-fifth of the editorials were funded by external agencies, with the United States having the highest number of retracted editorials. The average time between publication and retraction of the editorials is 2.48 years, with two editorials retracted after the longest durations, both written by the same author. In conclusion, editorial articles should, at the very least, be free from research/scientific misconduct.

Summary: Detailed analyses of past seismo-volcanic events help to understand volcanic eruptive behavior and underlying processes. Automated approaches were used to analyze seismic data from four volcanoes, revealing similar statistical behaviors despite their different types and activities. Further investigations are required to validate observations and derive a new amplitude-frequency relationship.

Summary: This study investigated the association between symptoms of attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) in adolescents and risk of mortality. The results showed that higher scores in inattentive, hyperactive, and combined symptoms were associated with increased risk of death. However, this association was partially attenuated by adolescent substance use.

Summary: Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors (DPP4is), commonly used drugs for type 2 diabetes, increase the risk of bullous pemphigoid (BP). The mechanism leading to the loss of immunological tolerance and the differences between DPP4i-associated BP (DPP4i-BP) and regular BP are largely unknown. This study analyzed cytokine expression in lesional and nonlesional skin samples of patients with regular BP or DPP4i-BP, and found distinct molecular fingerprints between the two.

Summary: This study examines the differences in economic preferences and temperament traits between different categories of business leaders (i.e., managers, self-employed with employees, self-employed without employees) and paid employees. The results show that business leaders generally have different economic preferences and temperament traits compared to paid employees. The temperament trait of novelty-seeking seems relevant for becoming a manager, while the economic preference of risk-taking appears important for becoming self-employed.

Summary: This study aims to assess the factors associated with the perceptions and practices of interactions with patients and faculty on social media among dental students from Malaysia and Finland. The results showed that Malaysian students were more willing to guide patients online and befriend faculty on social media compared to Finnish students. Clinical year students were more likely to interact with patients on social media than pre-clinical students. Students who were willing to communicate dental related issues on social media were more likely to extend friend requests to faculty.

Summary: This study compares the general and oral health habits between Finnish conscripts who interrupt their service and those who completed their military service, and aims to identify the factors that could be used to predict interruption of service. Lack of weekly physical exercise is found to be the most obvious predisposing factor, and the risk of interruption of military service is significantly higher for individuals with multiple predisposing factors.
