Summary: This paper demonstrates that the structure, morphology, and optical properties of TiO2 inverse opals can be precisely controlled by changing the synthesis conditions. Opal photonic crystals were fabricated using self-assembly-based vertical deposition technique, and TiO2 precursor was synthesized by mixing ethanol, HCl, and selected ratios of titanium tetra isopropoxide (TTIP). Different amounts of the precursor were injected into the opal structures, and the effects on crack-free and uniform structures on a micro-scale were discussed. The study provides valuable insights for choosing the optimal synthesis conditions for different TiO2 inverse opal applications.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of photocatalytic degradation using nitrogen and tungsten co-doped titania (TiO2) nanoparticles, which are cost-effective and environmentally friendly. The synthesized nanoparticles were analyzed using various techniques, including spectroscopy, microscopy, and spectrometry. The co-doping of metal and non-metal enhanced the photocatalytic properties of the TiO2 nanoparticles, particularly in the visible region. This resulted in improved absorption of visible light and reduced recombination of electron-hole pairs, leading to accelerated photodegradation. The bandgap of the titania nanoparticles was reduced after efficient doping, enabling the photodegradation of malachite green under visible light illumination. The results of photocatalytic degradation were confirmed using spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.

Summary: In this study, NiO films with different Al doping ratios were deposited on glass and n-type Si substrates using the sol-gel process. The physical and electrical characterizations of the films were investigated, with a focus on the effect of Al doping. The results showed that increasing Al doping resulted in a decrease in crystallinity and an increase in band gap. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed the presence of both Ni+2 and Ni+3 ions in the undoped NiO lattice, with Ni+2 being reduced due to Al+3 substitution. The heterojunction photodiodes based on NiO films showed good rectifying properties, with ideality factor and barrier height decreasing and rectification ratios increasing with increasing Al doping. The photosensitivity increased but photoresponse decreased with increasing Al doping.

Summary: The corrosion inhibitory potency of two new pyrimidine-pyrazole derivatives, PPA and PPC, was evaluated for mild steel in 1 M HCl. The results showed enhanced inhibition activities with increased concentration, reaching maximal values of 91.15% and 92.39% for PPA and PPC, respectively. However, the mitigation potency decreased with increasing temperature. SEM and XPS analysis revealed that PPA and PPC adsorbed on the mild steel surface, forming a shielding layer that prevented the dissolution of the steel in the acidic solution.
