Summary: This study presents an instrumented bench suturing simulator for automated and objective assessment of open suturing skills. By analyzing participants' hand motion, the study successfully differentiated between different skill levels. These findings highlight the importance of rotational motion analysis in assessing suturing skills.

Summary: This study reported the overall experience, perioperative and long-term survival results of hand assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) for colorectal cancer in a single tertiary referral center in Lithuania. The surgery was found to be feasible and safe, with the advantages of minimally invasive surgery, good perioperative parameters, adequate oncological quality, and excellent survival.

Summary: SRS-22 and ODI are predominantly used PRO measurements for deformity surgery. Improvements in sagittal alignment correlated with better PRO, with T1-SPI performing better than SVA. Functional outcomes and accelerometer measurements are newer methods that have not been widely adopted or validated. Adoption of a minimum set of core outcome domains, PROs such as SRS-22, and contributing risk factors will facilitate international comparisons and benchmarking, ultimately enhancing value-based healthcare.

Summary: This study aims to demonstrate performance differences in submaximal force control and tactile pattern recognition in healthy older adults. The results show that older adults have impaired ability to discriminate tactile patterns and control low grip forces, despite no differences in grip strength or cognition compared to young adults.

Summary: The article introduces the design, development, and preliminary evaluation of the MUSHA Hand II, a multifunctional hand with force sensors for robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery. The hand features three underactuated fingers with force sensors, allowing for different modes of operation and enhancing adaptivity and compliance. The hand has been demonstrated to effectively enhance the functionality of a robotic surgical system and overcome the limits on force sensing in laparoscopic surgery.

Summary: The rubber hand illusion is a widely studied bodily illusion that has been used to investigate the plasticity of body representations in the brain. Recently, there has been an expansion in applying this illusion to children populations to better understand body representation development. To prevent unintended methodological variability from hindering consistency in pediatric literature, it is important to review and summarize available pediatric RHI studies.

Summary: Understanding the challenges faced by parents of babies with congenital hand differences is crucial for surgeons, who need to provide care and consolation throughout the decision-making and surgical process. Considering the psychological and physical developmental milestones of the child is essential to achieve a satisfactory surgical outcome for both the surgeon and the child. Effective communication among surgeons interested in congenital hand differences through social networking services can facilitate knowledge exchange and better decision-making.

Summary: This study examined health-related quality of life in emergency general surgery patients using the PROMIS-29 tool. The results showed potential for improvement in pain interference and physical function, with positive changes seen in follow-up visits. Consideration of patient perceptions of illness and lifestyle impact is important in managing EGS patients.
