Summary: This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of extensively porous-coated stems in revision total hip arthroplasty. The results showed a cumulative incidence of aseptic femoral loosening of 3% at 20 years. These findings confirm the durability of this stem design and provide a benchmark for newer uncemented revision stems.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term performance of second-generation HXLPE in total hip arthroplasty. The results showed low linear and volumetric wear rates for HXLPE, and younger age and higher body mass index were found to influence long-term wear. These findings suggest that second-generation HXLPE can be a suitable material for long-term total hip arthroplasty interfaces.

Summary: This study reviewed the mid-term clinical outcomes of THA using an HTPC acetabular cup, with a minimum follow-up of 7 years. The results showed that the HTPC acetabular cup system, when used with a HMWPE liner, demonstrated excellent outcomes and survivorship in long-term follow-up.

Summary: In this study, a simple strategy is proposed to efficiently achieve broadband and continuous wave (CW) pumped second-harmonic (SH) by transferring a crystalline GaSe coating onto a microfiber with phase-matching diameter. The experiment showed high efficiency SH under a C-band pump laser and broadband SH spectrum under the pump of a superluminescent light-emitting diode source. This method is important for enhancing various nonlinear parameter processes and developing quasi-monochromatic or broadband CW light sources at new wavelength regions.

Summary: This study demonstrates the long-term efficacy of a modified technique using strut allografts combined with a reduction osteotomy for total hip arthroplasty. The results show good longevity and functional outcomes in patients with aseptic and septic loosening, warranting further mechanical and clinical studies in the future.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term clinical success of meniscal repair performed with a second-generation, all-inside repair device in conjunction with a concurrent ACL reconstruction. The results showed that after a minimum follow-up of 10 years, 84% to 88% of the patients demonstrated successful repair, with medial repairs failing significantly earlier than lateral repairs.

Summary: The study found that in Brazil, factors such as being female, age over 70, residing in the northeast region, and using certain types of antipsychotic medications were associated with an increased risk of switching between second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs). Risperidone was identified as the antipsychotic associated with the highest risk of switching, while clozapine had the lowest risk compared to other SGAs.

Summary: In this paper, two novel quaternary thioarsenites(III), AgMAsS3 (M = Cd, Hg), are successfully synthesized by introducing double d(10) cations. The compounds show different coordination modes and exhibit strong photocurrent responses. The origin of linear and nonlinear optical responses is investigated based on first-principles calculations. This study enriches the family of MI-MII-As-Q chalcogenides and helps to understand and design other multifunctional optical materials.

Summary: The study assessed long-term survivorship and functional and radiographic outcomes of the Zimmer Modular Revision hip (ZMR) system. Results showed high survivorship rates at 15 years for both PCM and TM cohorts. Aseptic loosening was the most common cause of revision surgery. Previous concerns regarding modular junctional weakness seem to have been addressed satisfactorily.

Summary: First-generation non-Western immigrants in Sweden with type 2 diabetes have lower all-cause mortality rates compared to native Swedes, but the mortality rates become more similar in second-generation immigrants. Acculturation to Western culture may impact mortality rates in immigrants with type 2 diabetes.

Summary: This study highlights the higher rates of fractures during implant removal in porous coated femoral implants compared to hydroxyapatite (HA) coated implants, with significantly lower Harris Hip Scores in the porous-coated group. Surgeons should exercise caution when using porous coated stems in primary hip arthroplasty to prevent catastrophic postoperative fractures.

Summary: This research focuses on the steady, incompressible two-dimensional Darcy-Forchheimer nanofluid flow towards a stretched surface, utilizing communication, mathematical modeling, and numerical simulation. Results show an increase in entropy generation rate with higher Brinkman number, and a decrease in temperature with higher values of the stratification parameter.

Summary: The study evaluates the performance of Ag and Ni doped g-C3N4 as efficient photothermal materials coated on poplar wood in interfacial solar steam generation (ISSG) of seawater. Doping Ag or Ni improves the photothermal conversion efficiency of g-C3N4 due to their surface plasmon resonance effect. Ag doped g-C3N4 shows higher solar evaporation efficiency compared to Ni doped g-C3N4, attributed to its stronger absorption in visible and infrared regions. The highest evaporation flux of 3.72 kg m(-2) h(-1) is achieved for Ag doped g-C3N4 coated wood under 3 sun. The concentration of Na+ in Caspian seawater decreases from 3150.2 to 3.8 mg L-1 using this photothermal material. The Ag doped g-C3N4/wood evaporator device exhibits stable water generation ability in ten evaporation cycles.
