Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the survival rate, marginal bone levels, and full arch prosthetic success of short implants in severely resorbed and edentulous mandibles. A systematic review of three relevant studies found short-term dental implant survival rates ranging from 94.2% to 97.4% with a five-year follow-up, and prosthetic success rates around 62% during the same follow-up. The mean marginal bone level values of the affected short implants ranged from 0.2 mm to 0.6 mm. It was concluded that short dental implants positioned with precision as a full-arch fixed support are a valid therapeutic choice for medium-long-term rehabilitation of severe edentulous mandibular atrophy.

Summary: This retrospective study compared the clinical outcomes of single implant-supported crowns and implant-supported fixed dental prostheses (FDPs). It found that mean marginal bone loss around the supporting implants of FDPs was greater than on single implant-supported crowns at one year after implant loading. Biological and technical complications occurred rarely, with screw loosening being the main technical complication observed.

Summary: Through analyzing 13 studies, results showed that the survival rate of fixed mandibular 3-implant retained prostheses was 95.43%, with an average prosthesis survival rate of 89.66% and a mean marginal bone loss of 1.09mm. The study suggests that the implant and prosthetic survival rates of this type of prosthesis are similar to those of full-arch mandibular prostheses retained by four or more implants. Further research is needed to explore the topic.

Summary: The clinical application of fixed screw-retained complete-arch rehabilitations supported by four narrow-diameter implants (NDIs) was evaluated in this study. The records of patients who received immediate loading with complete-arch prostheses screwed onto four NDIs were reviewed. The treatment success rate, implant survival rate, and prosthetic survival rate were assessed, showing favorable results.

Summary: This study aims to determine the median event-free survival and complications rates of monolithic and minimally layered full-arch zirconia prostheses, as well as identify risk factors for prosthesis complications. The results show that monolithic and minimally layered zirconia prostheses have an acceptable median event-free survival time, and patients are highly satisfied with these prostheses.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to assess the implant survival and biologic complications of implant fixed complete dental prostheses (IFCDPs). The results showed that metal-acrylic resin prostheses were more likely to have soft tissue hypertrophy and plaque accumulation, while peri-implant mucositis was more common in maxillary patients and peri-implantitis was more common in mandibular implants.

Summary: This study compared the marginal bone level changes in maxillary implant-supported fixed complete dentures with four implants versus six implants over a 3-year period. The results showed no significant differences in marginal bone level changes between the groups, as well as in clinical parameters.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 5-year results of implants supporting fixed full-arch metal-ceramic restorations in patients who lost their teeth due to severe periodontal disease. The study found that the majority of implants with internal conical connection did not experience significant bone loss after 5 years. Abutment height and implant diameter were found to be associated with marginal bone level.

Summary: Comparing implant and prosthesis survival rates between full-arch immediate prostheses supported by four hydrophilic implants with bicortical anchorage and by five or six hydrophilic implants without bicortical anchorage, it was found that there were no significant differences in survival rates, but bicortical anchorage can improve the primary stability of implants.

Summary: This study investigated a novel full-digital bite registration technique for the manufacture of full-arch maxillary fixed implant prostheses. The digital technique was found to be faster and reliable compared to the traditional analog technique. The overall deviation was considered clinically acceptable, making the digital workflow suitable for implant-supported restorations.

Summary: This study analyzed the strains transferred to the supporting simulated bone structure by implant-supported full-arch fixed dental prostheses using digital image correlation. The results showed significant differences in strain concentration and distribution among different groups with varying implant numbers and designs. Groups with five implants showed less strain concentration, but similar strain distribution was observed among all groups.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to measure and compare the intraoral scan body deviations of conventional impressions and digital intraoral scanning for implant-supported fixed complete arch prostheses. The results showed that stereophotogrammetry offered the highest accuracy in terms of trueness and precision, while the digital technique exhibited higher trueness at the flat angled surface region of the scan body.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical behavior of mandibular implant-supported fixed complete dental prostheses on three dental implants, showing promising results in implant and prosthetic survival rates, suggesting it as a viable treatment option. Further comparative studies are needed to confirm these findings and establish protocols for optimal treatment outcomes.

Summary: This study evaluated different molecular weight hyaluronic acids as potential matrices for tissue-engineered bone grafting, with results showing higher expression of growth factors in the high/low molecular weight group. Differentiated cells secreted fewer cytokines compared to undifferentiated cells, with IGF-1 showing the highest expression in the low molecular weight group.

Summary: This study found that early contact with saliva can potentially decrease the properties of modified surfaces, resulting in decreased cell viability in the surrounding area. Careful surgical insertion of implants with hydrophilic surfaces is recommended to mitigate negative effects of saliva interaction.

Summary: This pilot study investigated the surface alterations caused on hydrophilic nanotubular surfaces after early human saliva interaction. The results showed that saliva interaction did not significantly affect morphological characteristics, roughness, and chemical composition, but altered the hydrophilicity. Without wet storage, saliva contamination significantly reduced the cellular viability of pre-osteoblasts. Therefore, saliva-controlled sites or modified-package methods with wet storage are recommended for oral application of hydrophilic surfaces.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of biomechanical variables of implant-supported fixed complete dentures (IFCD) on 1-year peri-implant bone loss. The results suggest that the clinical crown/implant (C/I) ratio and anterior cantilever have a significant effect on bone loss, while the support polygon area, posterior cantilever, resistance arm, and power arm do not.
