Summary: This study reviewed data from adult and pediatric patients with surfing injuries from 2009 to 2020 and found a decreasing trend in surfing injuries. Head/neck/face were the most commonly injured body parts, and pediatric surfers had a higher risk of concussions. The declining trend in surfing injuries may be attributed to improved safety in the sport.

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis comparing injury rates between female and male team-sport players found that male players had higher overall injury rates, while female players had a higher rate of anterior cruciate ligament injuries. No significant sex-specific differences were found for match, training, severe injuries, concussions, or ankle sprains.

Summary: This retrospective cross-sectional epidemiological study examines the patterns of sport-specific injuries in show jumping. The study found that head injuries were the most common, followed by overuse injuries in the upper extremities. Additionally, the study revealed that riders who frequently wore helmets and safety vests had significantly fewer injuries. These findings suggest the need to strengthen the helmet requirement and safety vest requirement in show jumping.

Summary: Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are the most common cause of ACL injury in Nepal, followed by sports-related injuries and falls. Males are more frequently injured than females, with two-wheeler accidents being the most common mode of RTA and football being the most common sport causing ACL injuries.

Summary: Adjustment for each comorbidity as separate dichotomous covariate is the preferable strategy in larger samples, while splitting CCI into multiple categories is preferable in smaller studies. Suboptimal adjustment strategies may cause observable bias, although of limited magnitude. Researchers should carefully choose the adjustment strategies to achieve desired mitigation of bias sources.

Summary: The study found that Danish youth handball players and coaches recognize the importance of injury prevention, but few systematically use established injury prevention programs. Coaches and players generally believe that continued education and training are vital for improving injury prevention practices.

Summary: This paper presents numerical studies of the three-dimensional train-wheel-bridge-bearing (TWBB) system model. By coupling the subsystem models, the simulations show high computational efficiency. The results suggest a need to find a balance between the bridge and train seismic responses in future bearing design procedures for railway bridges.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the scientific knowledge on sports nutrition basics for basketball players in different age, experience level, and able-bodied abilities groups, and provide guidance for discipline-specific dietary recommendations and future research directions. The review revealed widespread poor nutritional habits and knowledge, as well as deficiencies in applying adequate nutritional and hydration practices in basketball players. Furthermore, there is a lack of sufficient evidence to support discipline-specific and evidence-based recommendations on sports nutrition basics in basketball.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence rate, severity, burden, and mechanisms of foot and ankle injuries in professional ballet dancers. The results showed that female dancers had a higher incidence rate of foot and ankle injuries, and jumping actions were the most common mechanism of injury. The study highlights the importance of further research on injury prevention strategies targeting pointe work and jumping actions in ballet dancers.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate major injuries in women's soccer players in Kosovo. The results showed that the injury rate among female players is below the international average, with a significantly higher rate during games compared to training. Younger athletes also had a higher rate of injuries. These findings provide important guidance for coaches in developing injury prevention programs for women's soccer.

Summary: This article shows that predictive machine learning methods can be used to detect sport injury risk factors, even with models having relatively low predictive power. The study highlights the difficulty of predicting future injuries but also demonstrates that certain predictive injury risk factors can be consistently detected.
