In 2012, a multistate outbreak of Campylobacter infections associated with unpasteurized milk resulted in 148 illnesses. A dairy with a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture unpasteurized milk permit and minimal deficiencies identified during inspection was the outbreak source, demonstrating the ongoing hazards of unpasteurized dairy products.

Aimee J. Palumbo, Therese S. Richmond, Jessica Webster, Christopher Koilor, Sara F. Jacoby

Summary: This study examined the association between return to work (RTW) and mental health outcomes in Black men recovering from serious traumatic injuries in Philadelphia. The findings showed that men who had not returned to work had higher odds of poor mental health outcomes, with additional significant factors including younger age, lack of or public health insurance, and higher lifetime experiences of racism.

Gendered exposures: exploring the role of paid and unpaid work throughout life in US women's cardiovascular health

Summary: This paper examines how the history of paid and unpaid labor throughout a woman's life impacts her risk of cardiovascular disease. The study finds that paid labor participation is not associated with cardiovascular disease risk among women without unpaid labor. However, for women with unpaid demands, leaving the workforce early or having a discontinuous work history is protective. The study highlights the importance of considering both paid and unpaid labor when assessing women's health.
