Summary: Amino acids have ergogenic effects on young athletes by enhancing, protecting, and restoring their muscular system. Encapsulating five relevant amino acids in chocolate pellets enhances daily intake among them. A reliable HPLC fluorimetric method was developed to detect and quantitatively determine amino acids in chocolate, with experimental design methodology used to optimize the clean-up procedure.

Summary: Derivatization is a valuable practice for analyzing difficult analytes in complex matrices. The availability of derivatizing reagents has made analyte modification more feasible. Derivatization techniques have enhanced the analytical strength in recent years. Although conventional HPLC lacks sufficient sensitivity, combining it with derivatization can significantly improve sensitivity.

Summary: A new ultrahigh-performance supercritical fluid chromatography (UHPSFC) method was developed to solve the difficult separation problem of various biogenic amines (BAs) in gentamicin. The method achieved complete separation of 10 BAs using dansyl chloride derivatization and UHPSFC system. It demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy, and met the quantification limits required for impurity determination.

Summary: Coffee is a popular beverage, with a growing market worth over USD 4 billion. Coffee fraud is a concerning issue, with up to one in five coffees being contaminated with cheaper blends. Climate change and the recent Brazil frost have further impacted coffee production, leading to a potential increase in coffee fraud. In this study, a novel approach using postcolumn derivatization is proposed to authenticate coffee samples in real-time, along with three mathematical similarity metrics.

Summary: This study successfully characterized biogenic amines in different parts of Lycium barbarum L. using HPLC, revealing four different types of amines. The bark had the highest histamine content, while the flower had the highest putrescine content. There were significant differences in biogenic amine content among different parts of Lycium barbarum L., which should be considered when further utilizing them.

Summary: A promising click fluorescent labeling method with high selectivity for the determination of five steroid hormones in food samples was proposed. The method relies on the reaction between 3-Azido-7-hydroxycoumarin and the alkynyl group of steroid hormones in the presence of copper (I), resulting in a turn-on fluorescence response. The method showed excellent performance with good linearity and low detection limit when detected by HPLC-FLD.
