Summary: This study investigates the biological function and clinical value of a new biomarker in glioma. The results suggest that KDELR1 is upregulated in glioma patients and is significantly correlated with age, pathology, and other factors. Further analysis shows that KDELR1 overexpression is associated with shorter overall survival and disease-free survival times, and acts as an independent prognostic factor for overall survival in glioma patients. Additionally, KDELR1 expression is positively associated with immune infiltration and microenvironment parameters. Immunohistochemistry confirms the correlation between KDELR1 expression and tumor grade and prognosis.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed 1283 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and found a high incidence of bilateral multifocality. Bilateral multifocality was closely associated with clinical pathological characteristics such as age, gender, tumor size, and lymph node metastasis. It was also identified as an independent predictor of PTC recurrence. Therefore, patients with bilateral multifocal PTC may benefit from more frequent follow-up to detect recurrences earlier.

Summary: The study found that surgical complexity and high tumor grade may be related to perioperative red blood cell transfusion (PBT); the amount of transfusion is positively correlated with resected organ score, blood loss, and patterns of resection; PBT is associated with severe post-operative complications, but not with 5-year disease-free or overall survival.

Summary: This study found that cribriform pattern 4 (CC) and intraductal carcinoma (IDC) are significantly associated with nodal metastases (pN1) in both prostatectomy and biopsy settings. Incorporating the status of CC/IDC into preoperative nomograms may help optimize patient selection for pelvic nodal dissection.

Summary: This study comprehensively assessed the expression and clinical relevance of ENPP2 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ENPP2 expression was found to be associated with clinical stage and is a significant prognostic factor for worse outcomes in HCC patients. The diagnostic value of ENPP2 expression in HCC was confirmed, and gene set enrichment analysis identified pathways enriched in HCC patients with high ENPP2 expression. Overall, ENPP2 is highly expressed in HCC and is a potential independent molecular marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC.

Summary: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. Mucosal ulceration in GISTs is associated with GI bleeding, tumor progression, and other prognostic factors, and can serve as an independent prognostic factor.

Summary: Pyroptosis and related gasdermin family proteins play an important role in the tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer. In this study, a prognostic gene pattern was established based on pyroptosis-related genes (PRGs) for colorectal cancer patients, and a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis was performed. It was found that PRGs were significantly associated with inflammation-associated genes and immune-associated genes in colorectal cancer, and correlated with immune infiltrations. This work suggests that PRGs contribute to the heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment in colorectal cancer, and the prognostic PRG model may be useful for early diagnosis and medication use.

Summary: This study aims to identify immune-related prognostic factors for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) after radiotherapy and establish a prognostic model for predicting progression-free survival (PFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS). The study collected clinical information and investigated immune cells, EBV DNA and cytokines from NPC patients. Cox regression and LASSO regression were used to screen the prognostic factors and build nomograms. The results were also validated in a separate set of patients.

Summary: ABCF1, a member of the ABC transporter family, is upregulated in bladder cancer and correlates with poor prognosis. It is closely related to sex, grade, T stage, and N stage of bladder cancer patients. Furthermore, high expression of ABCF1 is an independent factor for poor prognosis in bladder cancer patients. Therefore, ABCF1 expression can serve as a potential indicator and therapeutic target for bladder cancer.

Summary: High CDCA8 expression is a potential molecular predictor of poor prognosis in liver cancer. The level of CDCA8 expression is associated with T stage, clinical stage, histologic grade, and histological type in liver cancer, and high CDCA8 expression is correlated with a poor prognosis in liver cancer patients.

Summary: In this study, lightweight refractory high-entropy alloy coatings with different dilutions were deposited on TC4 substrate using high-speed laser cladding technology. By controlling specific processing parameters, coatings with a dilution lower than 3% were successfully obtained, and nearly defect-free coatings were manufactured within a dilution range of 2.4%-33.6%.
