Summary: Health literacy is crucial for improving personal and public health. However, the Western-derived measurements of health often overlook indigenous perceptions, leading to disparities in health outcomes between indigenous and non-indigenous populations. China, with its large population, only officially introduced the concept of health literacy in 2008. The current measures of health literacy in China are mainly based on Western constructs and do not fit well with the unique combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in China. Understanding health perceptions from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective is essential for global health management.

Summary: Studies have shown that the impact of combined traditional Chinese medicine (CM) on intestinal flora (IF) is closely related to the efficacy of drugs. It has been found that the effect of drug pairs on the IF composition is not a simple superposition but also regulates the production of intestinal bacterial metabolites. Therefore, understanding the compatibility mechanism of CM from the perspective of the IF is of great significance.

Summary: Chinese medicine focuses on toxicity and effect, aiming to maximize effect while minimizing toxicity. Traditional Chinese Medicines often exhibit dual or multi-faceted characteristics under different pathological conditions. Understanding the relationship between toxicity and effect in these medicines is challenging due to their multi-target and multi-pathway mechanisms of action. Comprehensive analysis using multi-omics technology can provide valuable insights into this relationship.
