To determine the long-term prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after argon-helium cryoablation and identify the risk factors that predict metastasis and recurrence. A total of 156 patients with hepatitis B-related HCC less than 5 cm in diameter who underwent curative cryoablation were followed up prospectively for tumor metastasis and recurrence. Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). HBV basal core promoter (BCP) and precore mutations were detected by DNA sequence analysis. Post-treatment prognostic factors influencing survival, tumor metastasis and recurrence were assessed by univariate and multivariate analyses. The variables included the expression of VEGF in HCC tissues, clinical and pathologic characteristics of patients, and HBV features (HBV DNA level, HBV genotype, BCP mutation). The median follow-up period of the 156 patients was 37 months (range 8-48 months). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year overall survival rates were 92, 82 and 64%, respectively. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year recurrence-free survival rates were 72, 56 and 43%, respectively. Eighty-five patients (54.5%) had tumor recurrence or metastasis. The multivariate analysis showed that Child-Pugh class and the expression of VEGF in HCC tissues could be used as independent prognostic factors for overall survival. Meanwhile, the expression of VEGF in HCC tissues and HBV BCP mutations were found to be independent prognostic factors for recurrence-free survival. Strong expression of VEGF in HCC tissues and HBV BCP mutations are important risk predictors for recurrence or metastasis of HCC smaller than 5 cm in diameter.

Summary: This study investigates the potential mediating role of rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD), depression, and anxiety in the association between dopaminergic replacement therapy (DRT) and impulse control disorders (ICDs) in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. The results suggest that improvements in depression and RBD partially explain the aggravation of ICDs, while anxiety plays a mediating role. Therefore, monitoring changes in RBD, depression, and anxiety related to hyperdopaminergic status is crucial for preventing ICDs in PD patients.

W. E. N. L. I. N. Bai, P. E. I. X. U. A. N. LI, X. I. H. U. A. Zou, N. I. N. G. Y. U. A. N. Zhong, W. E. Pan, L. I. A. N. S. H. A. N. Yan, B. I. N. Luo

Summary: This paper proposes and experimentally demonstrates a millimeter-wave joint radar-communication (JRC) system with super-resolution, using optical heterodyne upconversion and self-coherent detection downconversion techniques. The system is based on a designed coherent dual-band constant envelope linear frequency modulation-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (LFM-OFDM) signal with opposite phase modulation indexes. The self-coherent detection enables the de-chirping of the MMW radar and frequency downconversion reception of MMW communication, achieving real-time decomposition of radar and communication information. Furthermore, a super-resolution radar range profile is realized through the coherent fusion processing of the dual-band JRC signals.

Photonics-assisted Millimeter-Wave Multiband Integrated Sensing and Communication System Using Coherent Receiving

Wenlin Bai, Peixuan Li, Xihua Zou, Ningyuan Zhong, Wei Pan, Xiong Deng, Lianshan Yan

Summary: In this study, a multiband integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system using optical frequency upconversion and coherent receiving techniques for millimeter-wave (MMW) high-capacity wireless communication and high-resolution sensing functions is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. A photonic MMW frequency upconverter generates MMW multiband ISAC signals which are then processed by a coherent photonic MMW de-chirper for radar signal processing and data fusion. Communication receiving and demodulation are achieved by coherent receiving technology for multiband/multiuser scenarios. Experimental results show a communication data rate of 16 Gbit/s and a two-dimension radar imaging with 3.75-cm range resolution. After multiband data fusion, an ultra-high resolution of 8.6-mm is successfully achieved for radar ranging and imaging.

CircRNA-0100 positively regulates the differentiation of cashmere goat SHF-SCs into hair follicle lineage via sequestering miR-153-3p to heighten the KLF5 expression

Junyin Zhao, Jincheng Shen, Zeying Wang, Man Bai, Yixing Fan, Yubo Zhu, Wenlin Bai

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are stable RNA molecules that can function as miRNA sponges to regulate gene expression. In this study, we found that circRNA-0100 was highly expressed in the hair follicle bulge of cashmere goats and promoted the differentiation of SHF stem cells into hair lineage. Our results demonstrated that circRNA-0100 sequesters miR-153-3p to enhance KLF5 expression, thereby promoting the differentiation of SHF stem cells into hair lineage in cashmere goats. This study provides novel scientific evidence for understanding the molecular regulatory mechanisms involved in the differentiation of SHF stem cells into hair lineage in cashmere goats.
