Summary: The aim of this study is to provide a new method for performing Enlow's neutral track analysis on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. The validity of the proposed 3D analysis method was confirmed by comparing it with the traditional 2D analysis on lateral cephalograms. Further studies are needed to validate these results with a larger sample and different skeletal class subjects.

Summary: A novel two-dimensional periodic wavelet series (PWS) method was proposed to reconstruct the 3-D shape of aggregates with sharp angularities. The reconstruction procedure and parameter selection were described in detail. Compared to the commonly used spherical harmonic reconstruction method, this method has advantages in local variation capacity and potential applications in recycled aggregates.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the measurements of acetabular offset, femoral offset, and global offset obtained after total hip arthroplasty between a two-dimensional (2D) method and a three-dimensional (3D) method. The results showed that the 3D method provided more accurate measurements of acetabular, femoral, and global offsets compared to the 2D method.

Summary: In this study, the use of 3D reconstruction technology as an adjunct to PCNL for complex kidney stones showed improved stone clearance rates, puncture success rates, and fewer postoperative complications in the 3D reconstructive technique-assisted group. Additionally, the operation time was shorter in the 3D reconstruction group.

Summary: Wide-field fluorescence imaging is a necessary tool for studying large-scale biodynamics. Conventional methods cannot provide high-resolution three-dimensional mapping. This study introduces a volumetric wide-field fluorescence microscopy based on optical astigmatism, which can map murine cortical microcirculation in real time and observe morphological and functional changes in cerebral vascular networks.

Summary: This study compared the position of the center of resistance (Cres) in models of maxillary central incisors with and without pulp cavities and evaluated the correlation between pulp cavity/tooth volume ratio and the difference in Cres position between the two models. The results showed that in the models with pulp cavities, the Cres was located more apically, and the difference in Cres between the models increased as the pulp cavity/tooth volume ratio increased.

Summary: A co-registration method of CBCT and photo images was developed to generate realistic facial image reconstruction for orthognathic surgical planning. The study showed that orthodontists considered the three-dimensional model obtained to be realistic and of high quality. This method may enhance the predictability of surgical-orthognathic planning.

Summary: This study focuses on the comprehensive characterization of the three-dimensional (3D) structure of bamboo parenchyma and the evaluation of its tensile and compressive properties, as well as the analysis of its failure mechanisms. The study found that the measured tensile strength and elastic modulus of the parenchyma tissue are 48.81 MPa and 706.48 MPa, respectively. Compression failure modes in parenchyma tissue encompass compression bending and cell fracture, shear failure of the middle lamella, and detachment and debonding of the cell wall.

Summary: This study utilized various techniques to investigate the microstructure of Nafion thin films. The results showed that film thickness affects the relative proportions of hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions within the polymer, while the channel diameter and spacing between hydrophilic channels also display certain relationships.

Summary: This pilot study evaluated the skeletal outcomes of rapid maxillary expander (RME) using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) on different planes. The results showed significant effects of RME on the transverse plane and only posterior facial height had a significant change on the vertical plane. Both evaluated programs were efficient in three-dimensional cephalometric analysis.

Summary: In this paper, a three-dimensional reconstruction procedure based on coherent modulation imaging is presented, which allows the recovery of phase and intensity of the sample from diffraction patterns. Pre-processing methods to remove illumination probe, address inherent ambiguities in phase reconstruction results, and handle intensity fluctuation are provided. The projections extracted by this method can be used with standard tomographic reconstruction frameworks to accurately recover quantitative three-dimensional phase and intensity images. Numerical simulations and optical experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Summary: This study compared the results of 3D skull reconstruction using different open-source software and a commercial software, and found that the open-source software yielded comparable results to the commercial software. This suggests that open-source software can be considered for patient management and pre-operative planning in hospitals or institutions with limited budgets.
