Summary: This study aimed to analyze the potential role of psychological factors on the recurrence of arrhythmic or non-arrhythmic syncopes. The results showed that patients with non-arrhythmic syncopes had higher levels of anxiety and depression, and lower quality of life.

Summary: This study examined the use of Holter electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring in patients with syncope in the internal medicine department and found a low proportion of cases where it altered patient treatment. Older age, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and shorter duration to Holter initiation were identified as predictors for diagnostic Holter. There was a positive correlation between time from admission to Holter and hospital stay.

Summary: Syncope is frequent in patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), but there is no independent association between syncope and mortality in these patients.

Summary: This report presents a case of a 44-year-old female with chronic cough and cough syncope caused by premature ventricular beats (PVCs). The cough disappeared after radiofrequency ablation, suggesting PVCs as a possible cause of chronic cough and cough syncope in differential diagnosis.

Summary: Limited reports exist on comorbid premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and vasovagal syncope (VVS). This study found that autonomic activities play a role in the occurrence of symptomatic idiopathic PVCs in some VVS patients, with DC-dependent PVCs possibly being facilitated by increased vagal activities. Catheter ablation of ganglionated plexi (GP) and PVCs foci may be an effective, safe treatment in patients with both VVS and idiopathic PVCs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of yoga as an adjunct to standard therapy compared to standard therapy alone on symptomatic burden in patients with recurrent vasovagal syncope. The results showed that yoga as adjunctive therapy was able to reduce the number of syncopal events and improve the quality of life in these patients.

Summary: Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a common valve condition that is a conundrum due to the existence of an arrhythmic form (AMVP) and its link to sudden cardiac death. Recent studies have shown that MVP is not always benign and can be associated with clinically significant ventricular arrhythmias. This review focuses on the definition, evaluation, and management of AMVP, highlighting the importance of mitral annular disjunction (MAD) in this context.

Summary: This study describes the use of electroanatomic mapping and radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) to guide treatment for ventricular tachycardia (VT) in Boxers. The results show that RFCA can decrease the number of VT episodes and improve clinical signs in Boxers. However, there are potential complications associated with the procedure. Further research is needed to understand the anatomical substrate and electrophysiological mechanisms of VT.

Summary: This study characterized the clinical and histopathological features of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) in Bulldogs and assessed the presence of a striatin gene mutation. The findings suggest that an increase in left atrial size is a significant predictor of mortality in Bulldogs with ARVC.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the orientation of insertable cardiac monitors and patient body postures have a significant impact on R-wave amplitudes, with female patients showing more pronounced effects in the right-side lying and left-side lying postures.

Summary: This case report describes a patient with recurrent syncope who was found to have a 6 cm dilated sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SOVA) with an ectatic ascending aorta, as well as left anterior fascicular block, aortic regurgitation, and mitral regurgitation. In asymptomatic patients with SOVA, a dilation with a maximum diameter of 6.0 cm requires stringent monitoring and should be considered for surgery.

Summary: This study examined the use of external loop recorders (ELRs) in pediatric patients and found them to be effective in diagnosing arrhythmias. The correlation between symptoms and rhythm varied depending on the indication, suggesting adjustments to recording time for improved efficiency in practical application.

Summary: In patients aged 40 years or older with severe recurrent reflex syncope and tilt-induced asystole, a dual-chamber pacemaker with closed loop stimulation is highly effective in reducing the recurrence of syncope. The inclusion of tilt testing is supported as a useful method to select candidates for cardiac pacing.
