Summary: Researchers focus on multcategory two-sided platforms and propose optimal resource allocation strategies across two sides in different time periods. The study shows that the business model of platforms determines the optimal strategy, allocating resources according to pricing method and growth driver. Empirical research and simulations demonstrate the benefits of adjusting investment allocation.

Summary: Digital platforms have replaced traditional markets and play a significant role in our socioeconomic aspects. However, negative direct side network effects on these platforms can have undesired consequences. To address this, dynamic solution mechanisms, such as multi-sided recommender systems, have been proposed. Current systems, however, fail to consider uncertainty in predicting agents' choices, limiting their efficacy. In this study, a robust multi-sided recommender system is presented, considering estimation errors in agents' choices, and experiments show its effectiveness and generalizability in addressing negative effects.

Summary: Managing the quality of complementary applications is crucial for the success of two-sided platforms. Three quality regulation strategies are compared in this study, showing that excluding low-quality complementors may not always benefit the platform, while subsidization and first-party applications strategies can lead to higher profits, quality, and consumer network.

Summary: With the rise of the digital economy, two-sided platforms have become increasingly important in facilitating interactions between different customer groups. Research indicates that the value created by digital platforms is not only based on reducing transaction costs and resolving frictions between two sides, but also on factors such as data-driven expansions, personalized services, and engagement mechanisms. These drivers enhance and enrich the basic value proposition of matchmaking on two-sided platforms.

Summary: This manuscript critically reflects on the assessment criteria and access conditions for reimbursement of advanced therapies through a review of the literature. The findings indicate that advanced therapies can be cost-effective at high prices set by manufacturers, but many payers undervalue these products. Additionally, advanced therapies can be affordable and may not require staggered payments. While outcome-based managed entry agreements are theoretically attractive, they present challenges in practice. Lastly, multinational collaborations play a role in managing the reimbursement and access of advanced therapies.

Summary: This study proposes a theoretical model that highlights the importance of a multi-sided platform (MSP) in promoting innovation and examines the impact of cross-platform competition on innovation dynamics. The results suggest that the presence of an MSP is critical for market innovation, but skewed market power in favor of the MSP may hinder innovation. Additionally, industries with multiple MSPs show higher rates of innovation. The study emphasizes the significance of preserving the contestability of digital markets through competition rules enforcement.

Summary: This study explores that in the presence of cross-group network effects, a monopoly multi-sided platform may price differently than a social planner due to displacement distortion and scale distortion in addition to classical market power distortion and a distortion in the spirit of Spence. It is found that under certain conditions, the displacement distortion exactly offsets the Spence distortion, leading to lower monopoly prices per user compared to the social planner. These findings have implications for regulatory policy, which are briefly discussed.

Summary: Automated high-throughput plant phenotyping (HTPP) allows for non-invasive and standardized assessments of plant size, development, and physiological variables. Before purchasing or using such equipment, users need to consider financial and time investments, machine constraints, the benefits and drawbacks of non-destructive measurements, the information provided by proxy traits, and the utilization of calibration curves. Despite possible pitfalls, HTPP systems have become valuable tools for plant biologists.

Summary: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States failed to achieve efficiency in implementing social distancing policies, leading to an increase in crowding and visitation at public locations. The rationing of public spaces did not prioritize gatherings with better benefits-to-transmission risk ratios, resulting in a lack of desired outcomes.

Summary: Recent research shows that social media services generate significant consumer surplus. Concerns about the negative effects of social media usage on well-being and academic success are raised, but there is limited causal evidence. To fill this research gap, a randomized controlled trial was conducted among students. The results suggest that restricting social media usage does not have a significant impact on well-being and academic success.

Summary: Big Tech companies like Alphabet (Google), Apple, Meta (Facebook), Alibaba, and Tencent have shown their ability to successfully integrate multiple digital platforms. However, understanding of how multi-platform integration strategies are articulated and the potential benefits they bring remains limited. This study develops a typology of four multi-platform integration strategies and examines the complementarities generated and provides real-world examples for each strategy. The study also discusses the limitations and implications associated with the integration of multiple digital platforms, and proposes avenues for future research on multi-platform integration strategies.

Summary: Manipulative content and propaganda on social media are a concern. Government-controlled social media pages can quietly encourage certain beliefs without sharing clearly false content. Facebook introduced state-controlled media labels to inform users about posts from selected governments, reducing engagement if noticed and associated with a negatively perceived country like Russia and China. However, the labels may increase engagement for positively perceived countries like Canada.
