Summary: This study evaluated the role of telemonitoring in the early diagnosis of acute lung allograft dysfunction in cystic fibrosis adults who underwent lung transplant, and assessed the quality of life and functional level achieved. The results showed that the telemonitoring group had consistent data between hospital reports and remote registration, but adherence to telemonitoring decreased during the follow-up. Overall, telemonitoring is a valuable tool to improve quality care for lung transplant recipients.

Summary: A focused clinical intervention aimed at problem-solving key barriers to adherence increased medication possession ratios and BMI in cystic fibrosis patients. However, no significant improvements were observed in FEV, airway clearance, or HRQoL. The intervention was effective in addressing specific barriers related to the needs and goals of young adults with CF.

Summary: This study examined the use of behavioral economics approaches to promote the carrying of epinephrine auto-injectors (EAIs) among adolescents with food allergies. Results showed that frequent text message nudges or frequent text message nudges plus modest financial incentives increased the likelihood of carrying EAIs compared to usual care. However, even with the intervention, adolescents with food allergies carried their EAI less than 50% of the time.

Summary: This commentary summarizes the author's findings from 46 years of research on newborn screening for cystic fibrosis (CF), along with healthcare and public health practice. The goal of consistently timely and equitable diagnoses in the neonatal period has not been achieved in the USA. The causes for this include challenges in leadership and deficiencies in CF centers and NBS labs, lack of effective partnerships, misunderstandings about CF, and limitations in data and protocols.
