Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of a Series of Dimeric Indium Quinolinates

Sang Woo Kwak, Ju Hyun Hong, Sang Hoon Lee, Min Kim, Yongseog Chung, Kang Mun Lee, Youngjo Kim, Myung Hwan Park

Summary: A novel class of quinolinol-based dimeric indium complexes were synthesized and characterized, showing typical low-energy absorption bands and emission spectra with gradual redshifts as solvent polarity increased. Substituents at the C5 position of the quinoline groups significantly affected the emission bands.

Highly red-emissive salen-indium complexes: impact of 4-amino-substitution on the photophysical properties

Sang Woo Kwak, Hanif Mubarok, Ji Hye Lee, Hyonseok Hwang, Kang Mun Lee, Min Hyung Lee, Myung Hwan Park

Summary: This study presents a method for designing highly emissive salen-indium complexes, which were synthesized with high yields through a one-pot synthetic pathway. The compounds exhibited narrow-bandwidth red emission with high photoluminescence quantum yields in toluene. Theoretical studies suggest that electronic interactions between the 4-amino donor and the electron-accepting bridge enhance the salen-centered electronic transitions in these complexes.

Summary: A series of 4-NEt2-appended salen-indium complexes with different electronic effects were synthesized. The solid-state structure of one complex was determined, showing a square-pyramidal structure. The absorption and emission spectra exhibited bathochromic shifts and narrowing emission peaks with increasing electron-withdrawing ability and electron-accepting property of the bridging units, respectively.

Highly emissive 4-carbazole-appended salen-indium complex: the effect of strong donor-acceptor interaction

Yoseph Kim, Jaehoon Kim, Ji Hye Lee, Hyeongkwon Moon, Ga Hee Noh, Hyonseok Hwang, Junseong Lee, Jun Hui Park, Youngjo Kim, Myung Hwan Park

Summary: In this study, we investigated 4-carbazole (CBZ)-appended salen-based indium complexes, CBZIn1 and CBZIn2. Our findings revealed that CBZIn2 exhibited significantly higher photoluminescence quantum efficiency in toluene compared to CBZIn1. The high efficiency of CBZIn2 can be attributed to the intramolecular charge-transfer transition between the moderately twisted CBZ and the 1,2-dicyanoethylene-bridged salen, which exhibits a strong electron-accepting ability. These results were supported by theoretical calculations.
