Summary: In this study, self-quenching resistant solid-state fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) were successfully prepared via a one-step microwave method. The CDs exhibited tunable full-color solid-state emission and were utilized in the fabrication of white light emitting diodes (LEDs) with adjustable correlated color temperature and high color rendering index.

Summary: An effective catalytic system for the synthesis of C5-arylated 2-isobutylthiazoles was reported, using Pd-N-heterocyclic carbene complexes as catalysts. The complexes showed moderate to good yields in the C5 direct arylation of 2-isobutylthiazole, with complex 2 exhibiting higher catalytic activity. The developed catalytic system enables the synthesis of fine chemicals in high yields under aerobic or anaerobic conditions, without the need for additional additives.

Summary: A variety of 2-alkynyl(benzo)imidazoles have been synthesized by dehydrogenative alkynylation of (benzo)imidazoles with terminal alkyne in NMP under air in the presence of Ag2CO3 as the oxidant and Pd(OAc)(2) as the catalyst precursor. The data obtained in this study support a reaction mechanism involving a non-concerted metalation deprotonation (n-CMD) pathway.

Summary: In this study, an efficient electrochemical Minisci reaction was developed to synthesize 3-hydroxyalkylquinoxalin-2(1H)-ones. The reaction involved hydrogen-atom transfer driven alpha-C(sp(3))-H functionalization of alcohols, and did not require transition metals or chemical oxidants. The reaction showed good compatibility with primary or secondary alcohols and a wide range of quinoxalinones, leading to high yields of the desired products.

Summary: This study reports a full-color-tunable nanohydrogel with ultrahigh stability for intracellular temperature sensing. By synthesizing temperature-sensitive polymers with red, green, and blue fluorescence and easy mixing, full-color-tunable fluorescent nanohydrogels were obtained. Further study indicated that the nanohydrogels exhibited excellent performance in intracellular temperature sensing due to their ultrahigh stability.

Summary: Cyclic organic molecules are common in natural products and pharmaceuticals. This study presents two classes of ligands that enable site-selective C-H arylation of small- to medium-sized cycloalkane carboxylic acids, overcoming the challenge of strain encountered in transannular C-H palladation. This advance is a major step towards achieving molecular editing of saturated carbocycles, with demonstrated utility in the synthesis of biologically active small molecules.

Summary: A photo-induced method for the synthesis of sulfonamidylated iminoisobenzofurans and benzoxazines under mild and metal-free conditions is demonstrated. N-Sulfonylaminopyridinium salts, easily available as sulfonamidyl radical sources, selectively reacted with 2-vinylbenzamides and N-(2-vinylphenyl)amides to generate sulfonamidylated iminoisobenzofurans and benzoxazines, respectively.

Summary: This review gives a comprehensive overview of the Pd-catalysed intermolecular direct C-H bond arylation of heteroarenes with arylating reagents. It summarizes the preparation of various arylating reagents, evaluates the practicality, versatility, and limitations of the arylation protocols, and compares the results with reactions using aryl halides as electrophiles. Mechanistic proposals are also discussed.

Summary: In this study, we report a new method for the gamma-arylation and gamma-lactonization of aliphatic acids, enabled by a L,X-type CarboxPyridone ligand catalyzed Pd(II) reaction. A wide range of gamma-arylated gamma-lactones can be efficiently synthesized in a single step, and the arylated lactones can be further converted into disubstituted tetrahydrofurans, which are prominent scaffolds in bioactive molecules.

Summary: By reversing conventional site-selectivity of C-H activation, a new catalytic system based on palladium/norbornene and an S,O-ligand for meta-C-H arylation of aryl ethers is reported, which outperforms previously reported systems. This system shows unique ability to use alkoxyarene substrates with different substituents, as well as tolerate ortho-substituted aryl ethers by employing novel norbornene mediators. Moreover, monoarylation of alkoxyarenes is achieved for the first time, enabling rapid introduction of a second, different aryl coupling partner.

Summary: This article describes V-shaped xanthene dyes that are capable of predicting absorption and emission wavelengths. These dyes were synthesized by bridging a xanthene ring and an aryl moiety of fluorescein through ether covalent bonds, and they exhibited longer absorption and emission wavelengths compared to the parent fluorescein. The introduction of substituents on the aryl moiety mainly affected the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy level of the molecule, and thus the Hammett substituent constants could be used to predict the absorption and emission wavelengths of the compound.
