Two spirostanol saponins, one of which was a new compound, were isolated among the steroidal glycosides of Allium cyrillii Ten. Bulbs. The structures of these glycosides were established using chemical and spectral analytical methods as beta-D-glycopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 3)]-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 4)beta-D-galactopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 3)-(25R)-5 alpha-spirostan-2 alpha,3 beta-diol and beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 2)-[4-O-(3hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 3)]-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 4)-beta-D-galactopyranosyl(1 -> aEuro parts per thousand 3)-(25R)-5 alpha-spirostan-2 alpha,3 beta-diol.
