A fully screen-printed electrode chip was fabricated for glucose detection. The utility of the screen-printed electrode chip based on a Japanese paper was demonstrated through the determination of glucose using the reaction of glucose oxidase with tetrathiafulvalene. The calibration curve showed good linearity in the concentration range 10 to 100 mM, with a slope of 0.055 mu A mM(-1). The paper-based electrode chip is potentially applicable for point-of-care monitoring because it is easy to use, inexpensive, and readily disposable.
